Haven't had a stinker Dec for snowfall since 2006, with two biggies (07,08) and two avg since then, so a low-snow one shouldn't surprise. (Also haven't had any real Dec cold since moving here in 1998; no mornings of -20, no afternoons near zero.)

What I've really missed here is snow in November. Except for a 7" storm in 2002, my biggest in 13 Novembers is 3.7" in 2005. That means my #2 Oct snowfall here is bigger than my #2 Nov event - odd. Of course, I should be careful what I wish for. 2002-03 was one of my least snowy winters (though my coldest here), and 2005-06 was THE least snowy. November snow has been a poor indicator for the remainder of winter, except in Ft.Kent, where it's almost a winter month, anyway.

I guess that shows the luck of the draw. The snowiest Novembers here in the past couple decades here are(Final winter snowfall in parenthesis):

2002: 8.8" (117.3")

1997: 5.5" (54.7")

1995: 5.1" (132.9")

2005: 3.2" (66.2")

2004: 3.0" (114.3")

Really only 1997 was kind of a clunker and theres several heavy hitters in there. However in the 1970s and 1980s...many of the snowiest Novembers were complete duds. There doesn't seem to be any real long term correlation here.

Well over a week after the Great Pumpkin Storm snow holds on across the high terrain. Open sunny areas have burned off but anywhere even slightly shaded holds snow. The cold north aspects still have enough to slide on but it's getting sketchy with the increasingly hostile temp regime. Piles should survive until new snow is layed down. Pics from today on my way home.

lol. It's just up the road and every time I pass it I smile. I've been taking stock of the local squirrel population..... very plump. We've already had the hammer hit the anvil once and another strike will fall soon Jerry.

LOL @ Cold Street! Today I took a quick tour of "God's Country" for my last full day visiting the Western MA area. Driving on SR 143, I noticed an intersection with Cold Street in Worthington. Is that the same one as in your pic? Anyway, there is still snow left up there, fun to see before I head home tomorrow to the true tropics.

Yep. Probably the same one. How did you like my neck of the woods? Not for those that like the city lights but if you like it rural and snowy it's heavenly.

My temps have been waffling between 42 and 45F weird

There's a very shallow, but strong, inversion this morning. ORE, EEN, and CON are ~32F while I'm 43F, ORH is 49F, and Savoy is 51F. It'll be a big snow eater for GC today. There's a heck of a launching pad above 1kft once the lower els fully mix out.

I think that animal left here last night--there were just a few remanants near my deck as I was getting firewood.

Dropped to 36F

Wonder if enough melts for me to use the grill tonight

Tooooorrrcchhh!

Bitter over there, Dave. We plummeted to 45.3. Now 46.0/42

Bare ground for a while to come. I pray....oh do I pray for those that want snow.

I'm hoping for some for TG. THen again, I hope for some on Memorial Day.....

Either way, the leaf clearing--whether it is paid for, being mowed, or being raked/blown myself--will need to take place this year after al. Alas....
