Will,

Do you happen to know how often Hurrell updates his NAO page?

No data released for any of 2011 yet. Data only goes through December of 2010.

It tells you often they update it on the front page.....they say Oct 2011 so they are a bit late, but it should be soon.

I found out yesterday that basically my entire immediate family was about a half hour from dying from carbon monoxide poisoning the other day...a water heater or something broke at the house they were staying. That would have been great. Stay safe, folks.

I still haven't seen many pictures of the damage in SNE...sounds pretty crazy. Thankfully my folks cut down a big island of trees close to their house just last spring. They still had about 5 trucks working on branches, etc. in the yard earlier in the week. I never would have thought that having a lot of leaves on the trees would make such a big impact.

Wow...glad everything is alright. That's an incredibly scary thought.

Nothing but much above normal temps thru the next 2 weeks. No signs anywhere of a pattern change. The concern for Dec continues to grow each day

There are still some good signs of a switch to cooler wx after d10, especially after d14 or so. It's going to take its time....we go through this every year.

Went a week without power in Btown. Finally came back on Saturday. Governor Patrick was here griping about the response... I thought it was pretty damn good actually. The scale was just remarkable. Tree damage reminded me of the 2010 Norman/Little Axe tornado in a lot of ways, except spread out over the whole region. I'd guess over 50% of trees were affected, with close to a 10% fatality rate.

Been chainsawing wood and hauling brush for days and days, even in my dreams. Anyone looking for work, come on down...

I think in Mass...aside from some stuff here and there...the response was relatively good. It wasn't perfect, but compared to CT..they sounded a lot more prepared.

I agree they did a good job.

Effective response to something like this requires all able bodied individuals to get their asses out there and start clearing.
