Northeast Utilities Hi Ryan, didn't mean any disrespect by that post...we're happy to talk weather forecasts with you when this is all over. Right now we are totally focused on getting power back to 99% of our customers by tomorrow night.

You are way off base. CLP has been so much slower. Most people in the ice storm had their power back inside of a week...very few were beyond 10 days. In this storm, Massachusetts had over 670,000 customers without power at one point. Almost everyone has it back now (think they are under 40,000 now) and most within 2-3 days.

There's been a huge difference.

The difference has been, the MA governor went on record early on with very strong language, used his bully pulpit, blasting delays by the MA utility publically. Malloy, OTOH, was wishy washy and meek with his statements and looked like a complete dink. And he waited 4 days to call the National Guard. What a loser.

21/20, Hi Mitch. we'reholding snow here in my glen. South facing aspects have burned off but all the North facing pitches still hold decent snow., The shaded spots in my yard still have 8-12" and our snow fort, while having suffered a few setbacks is still mostly intact. I'm just hoping to have some of the big piles and stufff in the shade survu=ive until the next snowfall. Unfortunately it does look pretty mild this week. After seeing the SN+ last weekend I really want Winter to take hold immediately. Should hit the teens here again tonight.

Nice...amazing how your location holds that snow. 1,400' elevations here in Lenox are pretty much down to isolated patches. Got to 19º here last night, second night in the upper teens thus far here.

Unfortunately a big torch is coming our way this week thanks to the raging -PNA. The cold will hopefully come back, but it will probably require considerable patience as we have a war between the Pacific and Atlantic teleconnector signals. Although the NAO goes negative mid-month, the PNA remains very negative as well. Which one wins is hard to say, but I think the Pacific will win out for the better part of November. Cold shots will likely be transient and be between extended periods of average to above average temps. I think December should get better as the climo sets in and the gradient shifts south. Of course, if the -NAO stays in tact, our chances will be better.

I seem to recall that '93-'94 was a -NAO, -PNA winter, but correct me if I'm wrong. There were many SWFE that winter, but the gradient was pretty far south, giving SNE a big snow year. It was also a bit of a late bloomer as we didn't get into sustained cold and snow until late December. Good things can happen to those who wait.

Just got back from a yesterday/today trip to NYC. Was just texting Chris that I really would have liked to have gotten off 91/Merritt to scout out the damage. Visually from the highway, there was not a whole lot to see. Obviously the outages tell the whole story and I'd have like to have gotten a glimpse of what the neighboorhoods were like. But, between what the highway crews might have cleared and still some pretty heavy foliage, the extent of the damage was woefully hidden from the highways.

Out to split the trees that were intentionally taken down.

46.3/30

CL&P is a joke....look at the MA totals right now - 1% in both WMECO and National Grid in Western Mass....complete joke. Was at a wedding last night in Glastonbury, crew was staying in hotel from Vancouver. Said they had just worked 16 hour days 3 days in a row. Making $120/hour. Maybe I should become a lineman.

If you're on Twitter, follow @FakeJeffButler....hilarious. Not sure who is behind it but it's damn funny.

High of 50.7F here... currently 50F as the sun gets lower

I love the return to standard time. Should cool off Gillette a bit.

Still holding on to some snow, but half of my front yard is down to grass and leaves. I know what I'm doing Friday

Incredibly, even with only 9" 8 days ago, me too. My front lawn still has patches of 1-2" of snow and for that reason we can't do the last mow yet. Oh well.

55/25, high of 56. There is still an incredible amount of leaves out there for 11/6. Maybe one last freeze before the torch tonight?

Go Pats!

Just got back from the Lakes Region. It had to get down closer to 20 last night. What a frigid night. Nice steam coming off the lake this morning.

LOL, at NU and Ryan. Ryan is going to make CL&P his b*tch when this is over. They will be on their knees like the gimp in Pulp Fiction.

Find out if they employ a Met consultant, would think the largest Utility in NE would?
