Good, I picked the right storm to target. It just had that appearance on

radar of a suspicious nature about an hour ago. Looks to be heading about

10-15 miles south of Shreveport if it maintains strength.

Regardless of the strength of the tornado, it is a very good thing this storm

did not hit Shreveport. Last thing needed is another big city getting ht.

Cell to the north is looking interesting as well...

And LOL at that idiot who passed the guy on a double yellow line in the middle of a torrential downpour...

Still a strong couplet on the southern cell, several reports of damage in De Soto Parrish and the one to the north is intensifying...

NE of Galveston, tornado warning.

New MD out for parts of AR

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 2307

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0643 PM CST TUE NOV 08 2011

AREAS AFFECTED...CNTRL THROUGH ERN AR

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

VALID 090043Z - 090145Z

BAND OF STORMS FROM SWRN THROUGH S-CNTRL AR HAS RECENTLY SHOWN AN

INCREASE IN INTENSITY. CONCERN IS THAT SEVERE THREAT MAY PERSIST

ANOTHER FEW HOURS AND EXTEND INTO CNTRL AND ERN AR. AREA IS BEING

MONITORED FOR A TORNADO WATCH.

STORMS JUST WEST OF LITTLE ROCK HAVE SHOWN AN INCREASE IN INTENSITY.

STORMS WILL BE MOVING EWD INTO A REGION WHERE THE LLJ WILL UNDERGO

AN INCREASE TONIGHT RESULTING IN LARGE HODOGRAPHS. WEAK INSTABILITY

COULD SERVE AS A POTENTIAL LIMITING FACTOR...BUT MAY NOT DECREASE

FAST ENOUGH TO RULE OUT A THREAT OF ISOLATED TORNADOES...ESPECIALLY

GIVEN PERSISTENT THETA-E ADVECTION ALONG THE LLJ.

For those that have yet to see it...

Tipton/Fort Cobb Mesonet info...

"Our technicians have returned from Tipton and Fort Cobb with amazing stories. We'll post more pictures tomorrow, but here's what our calibration staff have been able to retrieve from the recovered dataloggers:

Tipton recorded a wind gust of 86.4 mph before it was destroyed. The anemometer has yet to be found. The site experienced a pressure drop of 47.16 mb in 1 minute, recording a low of 913.47 mb!

Fort Cobb recorded a wind gust of 91.4 mph before it was driven into the ground. It had a more gradual pressure drop of 14 mb, recording a low of 944.81 mb."

Presumably Tipton made it through the center, while Cobb was on the edge of the circulation, I guess. Doesn't beat TWISTEX's record low from the Manchester tornado, which was likely a much stronger tornado.

Amazing, mathematically, given all the gyrations of VORTEX to place turtles and TWISTEX to place probes, that two Mesonets were hit.

Tim Samaras should just drop 120 probes around Oklahoma and wait :-)

For those that haven't seen it. From the Texas Tech team, what would go on to become the Tipton tornado.

In the image south is the top of the image, and the hook of the supercell is moving towards the bottom left corner. Pronounced RFD cut and anticyclonic pendant is evident at this time, including a tight anticyclonic couplet (tornado?) (left center of the image).
