earthlight
Is this stalling out at the ideal location for us? I said at the start of the season its been a long time since we've seen a long drawn out snowstorm-- our biggies have all been quickies lately. Yes, this is as good as it gets http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/AVN_0z/f180.gif

MikeS
As far as I can tell this run shows more than 2 feet for NYC. Wow.

Jefflaw77
Has ChrisL been admitted to the hospital for passing out yet? With all due respect, don't we all hate to be the bullseye a week out.... im not trying to sour the mood around here.. a repeat or better storm of 12/19/09 would be amazing.. Can't wait for your analysis, Earthlight!!!
jrodd321
Was expecting a shift in the right direction from the GFS, but dear God not this. This is absolutely epic.

40/70 Benchmark
The historic block may keep that from happening. I noticed 12/2003 being mentioned as a strong analog. 2010 my man....2010.....with my luck, the block will queef, which will serve as a conduit for it to pull NW, after killing NYC. Thunder Road
As soon as I saw all that moisture along the Gulf Coast I knew this was going to be big. Everyone here is over 18 right? This is some hawt stuff...
winterwx21
h Euro and GFS on board, so this is a good one to watch. it may all come a little west but the block is not going to let cut the lakes. With the lack of a good ridge out west and a strong negative NAO, I'd be more concerned about it trending to a more flat wave to the south. It won't cut west. Yeah, I still remember how we were in the bullseye a few days out before Feb 2007--- but to see both major global models keying in on this and us about to get into a historic block-- you figure something has to give. Colin
wow, wasn't expecting this much of a shift from the gfs. that concerns me that it may come too far west but the block hopefully won't let that happen. should be fun to watch the next week. Kaner587
earthlight that mother of god post had me going...one of the funnier movies of our time. And wow is this a classic MECS-HECS...I actually watched this unfold first at 500mb its like a little superstitious thing I do (also tells me how much I'm learning) and watched it phase and knew this baby was coming up the coast in classic fashion, even if the surface reflection wasn't there. All I can say is WOW

Don't think this will come that far west... hopefully enough to get more interior areas into heavy snow as well.. IF IF that were to happen, mixing issues on the immediate coast as the water is still fairly warm. Although I-95 would still be fine.

isnice
I'm loving what I'm seeing and definitely staying up for the euro! But I must say, there's a little ding in my head saying ignorance is bliss. Still can't wait to read what HPC says about this.
