POWERSTROKE
Just came in from hunting, it was cold down on the creek bottom. Local temp on bank sign showed 27 but normally its 3-5 degrees colder where I hunt. I think i am going to put a thermometer at my stand
buckeyefan1
29 degrees for this mornings low I'm not looking forward to temps in the upper 70's mid week, but the sprinkles that go along with it makes me smile
buckeyefan1
I definitely felt colder last night and this morning compared to the previous frosts here. It was a hard freeze and frost on everything. The older I get, the better a move to Key West appeals to me. Blasphemy
WidreMann
Barely made it down to 30 at Chapel Hill and 32 at RDU. What gives? The hourly obs showed calm and clear the entire night.

NavarreDon
Brrr! a chilly 19.8 in Weaverville this am. First reading in the teens this year. I knew we were gonna go low when it was 25.8 at midnight. Nice rebound on tap today after not getting out of the mid 40s for the last 2.

calculus1
I had frost on my windshield this morning when I got up for work (woohoo overtime...), as well as all over the yard and the plants. It's not making me a happy camper. I'm with Foothills on this one; I can't take the cold like I used to (and I'm only 27). I'd much rather deal with our summers all year than freeze like I did the last two winters. I'm going to have to severely disagree with you on this one, but of course, it's just a matter of personal taste. My take on weather and being able to enjoy it boils down to this statement: "You can always put on more clothes if you're too cold, but there's a limit to what you can take off if you're too hot!" Thus, I prefer winter and the frosty mornings with the potential of beautiful snowfalls over the humidity, sweat, and bugs of summer in the South. Bring on the cold!! I got down to 27.1 this morning at the house, and that's with a temp gauge that's about 15 feet off the ground. (Since you can't separate the anemometer from the thermometer on the Vantage Vue, I opted for a location where I could perhaps get better wind measures even if my temps will always read a little too warm.) This has been my fifth morning below freezing so far this season and probably my tenth or so frost (I've lost count now).

WeatherNC
Barely made it down to 30 at Chapel Hill and 32 at RDU. What gives? The hourly obs showed calm and clear the entire night. Was wondering the same thing here @ PGV. Wind was calm all night under clear skies, but we were stuck at 32/27 for about 8 hrs. Shot in the dark and I could be way out in left field with the cause, maybe a subsidence inversion as the 1026 hp was located just to our south and sliding offshore. LithiaWx
33.3 two nights ago 32.4 last night here in Marietta Still no sub freezing reading yet. I'm wondering if it's the heat island with all the blacktop around here, possibly the fact that my thermometer is in a wooded location (despite all the blacktop around), or perhaps my thermometer is not accurate. Dobbins AFB reported 30 two nights ago and 31 last night which is within a few miles of my home.
griteater
From the 00z runs, both the Euro and GFS Ensemble Means are moving a good 500mb low into the Aleutians / W Alaska in the 9-10 day period, beating back the strong positive anamolies that have been prevalent in that area. This would pump some ridging into western Canada, and make for an improved look out west.

CandymanColumbusGA
Yep. The high center got to central or south GA this morning and was perfect for radiational cooling. This happens a lot though in early to mid Fall where the Deep South gets colder readings than the north. I think my area has had a freeze before Boston and DC many of the last few years (most years in fact) but of course as true advective cold comes in, they will be colder than the south. Here comes the warmup though..high pressure slides out to sea quickly today and strong southwest flow brings all of us into the warmup. The next rain event could be impressive for the Apps and interior Southeast esp west of the Apps. After this we're basically in a warmer than average pattern for a few days, although might be a damming event late week briefly. This and Tallahassee's temperature box is at the airport, which is a good 10 miles from town. The airport was built on an old swamp, so it was filled in with SAND which isn't a good holder of heat AND is in one of the lower spots in the entire airport (between runways). This creates some RIDICULOUSLY cool temperature readings in the winter. I should know, I had to forecast there every weekend (a FSU Alum here). Models and MOS were almost always 5 to 7 degrees too warm. Even if Tallahassee's airport did get down to 22 (ridiculous in and of itself), the city and immediate surrounding areas probably weren't cooler than 35-38. That's all good information in case anyone ever has to forecast for Tally in the winter
strongwxnc
a nice 26 this morning. It was 27 when I left the house for my 5 mile run at 6am. Got back about 7:10 and it was 26. Damn nice this morning!!

I did get there quicker though Hoping the rain will over perform again here. Over your way it is beginning to look like Lookout dragged his rain shield east this time, rather than over me, like before I'd love to see Robert's cad set up and get us all some good, cold drizzle. I can understand how we can get colder down here, on occasion, but being on the northside, and near a reporting station that went under, you ought to have seen freezing in some part of your yard I'm going to have to severely disagree with you on this one, but of course, it's just a matter of personal taste. Spent the day working outside and the warm up and strong sw winds were impressive. I enjoy changeups a lot, so I have to stay somewhere around here. I think the ideal changeable place, with about everything weather can throw at you would be in western NC, up to western or central/nw Virginia, east or south West Virginia, without having too hot of Summers, too cold of Winters, and having about every weather event possible and pretty common. Snowstorms, icestorms, strong pop up Summer storms, heavy rain events, high wind events and just plain nice weather for long periods. All common in occurrence about every year. Get much further north and its too cold, too cloudy and too short of daylight in Winter. Further south and you lose plentiful Winter storms (but gain trop. systems). I agree the Keys is a place for retirement and hurricanes.

Solak
Dropped down to freezing again for a while this morning just before sunrise. RAH HWO this morning and AFD once again mention the possibility of severe weather Tuesday night, even mentioning Nov 15, 2008 as a comparison to the setup that may be in place at that time. MountainMarvel
Only got down to 36 here this morning. Yesterday was 26, with loads of frost. Overcast and still 38 at 8 a.m. Might be flurries atop Mt. Mitchell, just 18 miles to the northwest. Sugar and Beech Mountains have been making snow for days, and were hoping to open a slope today for the season's first skiing. I plan to drive up there later today. Here's a view of 3,900 foot Shumont Mountain over Lake Lure on Thursday.
