FrederickWX
I took some video from my phone...while I was driving. It will also be on FB but may cause motion sickness. I also shot some video of my drive from the MD/VA border on Rt-340, to Harpers Ferry, that I plan on posting to YouTube later. It shows how quickly the conditions can change in that area, over a distance of just a couple of miles. Truly remarkable event today!

Ellinwood
Made some measurements... snow total of 1.5" in Germantown, MD (measurements ranged from 1.25" on cars to 1.75" in the grass). Overperformer in my book... was expecting a dusting to an inch.

Mencken_Fan
I thought SN++ meant 1/4mi? Thats about what it is unless my interpretation of a mile is off. If you're near Seneca you're south of me by only 5 or 6 miles so difference shouldn't be too huge. When heading northwest from D.C. towards Germantown (on the west side of I-270), the District's "heat island" ends just north of Gaithersburg and just south of Germantown. At night, there's an abrupt and very noticeable temperature drop as one crests a hill in the Seneca Creek area of Clopper Road. There is no recovery in temperature beyond that point. I lived in Germantown (Red Robin Terrace, just off Great Seneca Highway) from '95 to '03 and saw way more snow than those down-county. My best friend, a lifelong resident of the District just recently moved to Germantown; I told him: "welcome to snow country!" It sure didn't take long, ha-ha! Love the play-by-plays here of weather back in my old stomping grounds. Thank you all.
das
I have shaded places that are closer to 3".. The average depth is closer to 2 " here. Makes sense as you are a bit NE of here. I'm at a storm total of 2.3" right now. Maybe the next band to the NW will get me near 3".
