jnis
Seems like we always make our way into the deform band out here....probably an inch or so on the ground...side streets very slushy....great first event of the season given the time....no complaints from me....steady light snow still Same here... In general,'what ever rolls through Leesburg usually rolls through Damascus.

WVclimo
Wow, Craig! Beautiful shots. Is your power back on? Drizzle now and just hit 33 again. Yes, we only had the one brief outage so far. The pictures don't really do the scene justice. The combination of snow and the fall colors is beautiful.
Jebman
Remarkable given its late Oct - even more so low 30s in the DAYTIME. Remains to be seen what winter will be like - Oct 79 we got an inch of snow but I don't even remember winter of 79-

Solo2
Just took a drive up the mountain. Probably the tightest elevation gradient I have seen. 350'-500' it is snowing, but only about .5-1" on the grass. 500-900' snowing at a good clip and sticking to everything (highway included above ~700') with probably 1.5"-2" around 500-60' up to 3-4" at 800-900'. Above 900' the snow is rockin'....probably 4" at 900' up to about 5-6" at 1100'. Highways are a mess going over south mountain as well. Even in the valleys over south mtn (middletown, etc) there is 2-3". I didn't go higher than about 1100' because it was getting a bit perilous. I forgot the camera....sorry. TalcottWx
at least he didn't cancel the storm based on a dry slot 4 hours ago Always classic when people spin a post that says its going to dry out some and precip is going to become more spotty behind the punch (which it did, nothing fell for almost an hour and half here) into storm cancel
aldie 22
High temp today here was 36...way back just after midnight I guess....it has been below freezing the entire daylight hours...amazing for December or January much less October...pouring snow now
MD Snow
Recently moved to Louisville, Ky to go back to school but have thoroughly enjoyed watching this system! Never remember seeing flakes in October or November along the bay in my 24 years. Looks like this one is going to go out with a bang given that deform band rotating through the metro areas! Totally awesome! Remember... it's freaking October people!
H2O
Great stuff, Craig, Dave and all you guys seeing the good stuff. Finally had a little snow here. It still having a hard time making the total switch but mostly -sn here
jnis
I wish I had your elevation It seems like the elevation used to work out better back in the 70 - 80's In the winter. In smmmer It seems like storms often deflect south or north... But I have know data. I remember during "snowmeggedon" Damascus and Leesburg were in the same river... I am up stream. Maybe this year elevation will be more of a factor.
MDstorm
It has been snowing on and off all day (mixed at times with rain). It's been all snow since noon. Snow picking up over last 10 minutes. FrederickWX
Drove out Rt-340 from Frederick to Charlestown earlier, grabbed some photos and video. Amazing storm, and the elevation aspect of it is pretty cool - in the space of a couple of miles, it went from wet snow with nothing on the ground, to heavy snow with bad road conditions and several inches on the ground in Charlestown and Harpers Ferry. Absolutely love it.
