Damage In Tolland
Should we turn our thermostats up to 80 to get the houses as warm as possible due to no heat for 5 days?
wxsniss
Winter Storm Warnings extended to Middlesex, but BOX still conservative on Boston metro (443am AFD): An adjacent zone from coastal Essex Massachusetts through Boston and Providence to coastal Rhode Island has been placed in a Winter Weather Advisory. The Winter Weather Advisory area will have up to 3 inches...but again the combination with wind will have impact concerns.

CoastalWx
AM forecast I would curl that 10-15 up more toward just N&W of ORH too. That looks pretty good Ryan.
CoastalWx
It really does look like quite the potential for all hell breaking loose for Phil.

CoastalWx
It does look like the best banding potential may be GC, but man the low level forcing is so freaking strong and combined with the instability aloft....gotta think there will be a few bands..probably convective...further to the east of the mega deformation band. moneypitmike
Congrats, most everyone. MBY hopes we can muster a smidge for qpf (YES< I SAID IT!!!!) in light of the eastern shift. Interesting the 06 NAM amped up a bit. Regardless, it looks like the snowblower will need to be used tomorrow. 30.5/
bboughton
BOX canceled my WSW and gave me a WWA -- WHAT?! 2-5" seems low after last night, even for Newton.

CoastalWx
I like to use this product to look at instability in the mid levels. Look how that finger of lower stability..even a some straight up instability curls right into Cape Cod Bay. Right next to it, on the left, is that band from hell. This is going to have one hell of a happy ending.
HIPPYVALLEY
31/29 Nice to have cold air in place. Little nervous about the power situation but psyched for the storm. Box has me at a low of 16 sunday night. That is frigid for October!
moneypitmike
BOX canceled my WSW and gave me a WWA -- WHAT?! 2-5" seems low after last night, even for Newton. I just looked at my brother's warning (he's in Concord). The warning is calling for 4-6". That seems way too low--or is the snow going to be that low a ratio? CoastalWx
The -2C isotherm at 925mb is in purple. Starting at 18z. Look how the low level cools with the red 1000-850 thickness like moving south.
moneypitmike
Seems that BOX is playing VERY conservative wrt accumulations across the board. Horribly bad ratios????

moneypitmike
How many watt generator and how much fuel does it normally use? Enough watts to operate: Regrigerator Microwave Furnace/waterheater Well Two rooms of lights TV/Disc Only needed it once so not sure of the fuel consumption. If I needed to use all ten gallons on my electrircity, we'd have many more things to worry about from this storm because I'd think the end of world wold have come. lol That's also for snow blower, log splitter, etc.

moneypitmike
Not much of a change from yesterday: Are you being fecetious? Interesting--looks like the 06NAM and GFS both came in a smidge warmer--at least at lower levels. No real shift in qpf placements/amounts.
