For Bethel Park, I'd say this LES event certainly over performed!....were usually lucky to get an inch out of these...

Yeah, it sure has and it's coming down heavily again right now. I still stand by what I said yesterday about our area and LES because, as you know, we typically don't do well with it around here. We finally have had some bands set up perfectly for us this time. I'll take it.

I am driving in a heavy snow squall on mcknight road. Roads are snow covered.

Ugh. I hate McNightmare Road.

We just missed a good one here in State College but my house 12 miles west got nailed. That's a helluva impressive band you all have going there. Good stuff.

You know, when I lived out there I would run into a ton of people who had no concept of lake effect snow. For example, if you came to work from say Mt. Lebanon to say Etna, and you drove through a snowband but it wasn't any snow in Etna, I would run into people who couldn't believe that was possible. Also, I would hear now and then "we can't get snow from the lakes, we're too far away."

It's inching down toward me right now. I can see some darker clouds moving in here.

When I lived in Bethel Park (Highfield Court apartments at intersection of Clifton/McMurray Roads) our apartment had a great view to the NW so I used to enjoy seeing the darker, diffused clouds coming my way.

I live just a couple of minutes from there so I know exactly where that's at. You're right too, you would get a nice NW view from there. This is definitely turning out to be one of the better LES events I've seen in this area since moving here. Almost whiteout conditions again right now.

THE COMBINATION OF SNOW SHOWERS AND BLOWING SNOW CAN CAUSE

QUICKLY CHANGEABLE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS TO OCCUR THROUGH

THE EVENING COMMUTER RUSH PERIOD. THE ONSET OF NIGHTTIME

CONDITIONS WILL ADD TO THE HAZARD IMPACTS AS INCREASED TRAFFIC CAN

CAUSE ICE TO DEVELOP ON UNTREATED PAVEMENTS BENEATH THE PACKED

DOWN SNOW.

Who says lake effect events don't do well down this way?

NWS Pit Airport the last 2 hours has reported Heavy snow and .13 Visibility and .25 visibility respectively.

I know it stopped and started but those are usually the reports you see at Erie and Meadville.

If rants were here he'd be yelling at us for expecting any lake effect snow at all...of course if that one guy from russelton was here he would say he has a foot.
