SteelCity08
Looks to me like most of the precip will fall by the time the temps come around. I think we' ll be lucky to even see an inch out of this, hope I'm wrong..
blackngoldrules
That's how it typically works around here with these types of systems. We usually end up with very little, if any, snow out of them. Usually, by the time it gets cold enough for snow, most of the moisture is gone. NWS is still calling for 1-3 tonight after the changeover. I would say we get closer to 1, if we get that at all. I'd be really surprised to see anything more than a coating where I'm at, to be honest. I think we'd have to really get lucky later tonight and get a nice setup off the lakes to see any decent accumulation around here. That doesn't typically happen in this area, especially off the backside of these lows that tend to race off to the northeast.
Paweatherguy1
Boy, KPIT is having a horrendous year...the October event they completely wiffed on,...the event a couple weeks ago the night before they had less than an inch in the laurel's the night before, and they got 4-6 inches, and now this one they didn't even come close. To their credit though, all of those were extremely tough forecasts.

Other than a little wet snow today at the onset it was mostly rain. In fact I was just out and there was a little drizzle. I may get lucky and get an inch in lake effect tomorrow but that is it. This area is also in a snow drought as well.

Rolling Snowed
Hey Pittsburgh peeps...this is the former psuwxman4...I've been around...but just decided to go with another user name....this past year has had its ups and downs wxwise for the Pittsburgh area. I decided to create another username since I am deciding to change careers. I envy you folks that have a passion for the weather, because working in the field I completely lost mine. I've been wallowing in lousy hours, low pay, for something I used to love. I do plan to come back here when I work a more normal shift and try to give some input when I can. Until then....here's to +10 850mb temps ....and 50s and 60s in January and February.

We had a period of light snow move through this morning. It didn't last real long and probably gave most areas no more than a coating. You didn't miss much. blackngoldrules
December turned out to be a real dud in terms of snowfall. Just 1.2" for the month. We actually had more snow in October (1.6 inches) than we did in December. It's been very quiet around here since that late October snowfall. Here's to hoping that January and February make up for it. We have a bit of an arctic blast coming in early next week with some chances of LES associated with it. LES never excites me all that much, since I typically see very little snow from it in my area, but at least it's better than nothing.

RitualOfTheTrout
Hopefully this little event can over perform for everyone. NWS mentioned in a previous discussion that we might establish a Huron connection so that should boost the LES we get. Its a shame when we are into January and a 1-2 inch LES event is big news... Heres to a better pattern before winter ends.

north pgh
I guess no one posts in here anymore...is there another thread I don't know about?.... I don't know either. I guess unless there is a big storm no one comes on here. I have picked up about 1/2 inch or so. Snow looks to be picking up a bit. Larger snow bands seem to be just to the South and North of me. I am guessing that some people may get 2 or 3 inches if they get under one of these bands late this afternoon and overnight.
RitualOfTheTrout
I guess no one posts in here anymore...is there another thread I don't know about?.... Right or wrong there seems to be a general apathetic tune towards thie winter for snow lovers. We should be glad we have the lakes or the only thing to talk about would be the wind and the cold! I woke up to a light dusting this morning, then we got some sun and it has since melted so I'm back to a bare ground. Hopeing to pick up an inch or 2 out of this so I can take my daughter sled riding.
