THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 524

CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...THE RISK FOR ENHANCED SWATHS OF WIND DAMAGE ARE BECOMING

INCREASINGLY PROBABLE OVER THE MID-UPPER OH VALLEY REGION DURING THE

NEXT 1-3 HRS. AN ISOLD QLCS TORNADO THREAT MAY DEVELOP

TOO...ALTHOUGH THIS OVERALL RISK APPEARS LOW ENOUGH TO NOT WARRANT A

TORNADO WATCH UPGRADE ATTM.

DISCUSSION...INTENSE QLCS EXTENDS FROM FAR ERN OH NEAR THE WV

PANHANDLE SWWD INTO SWRN OH. A CLUSTER OF CELLULAR STORMS HAVE

DEVELOPED AND INTENSIFIED ACROSS FAR NRN WV WITH SOME OF THESE

STORMS /I.E. WEAK SUPERCELLS/ EXHIBITING INTERMITTENT ROTATION. THE

KPBZ VAD SHOWS STRONG 0-6 KM SHEAR /40 KTS/ WITH A NEARLY

UNIDIRECTIONAL WLY WIND PROFILE. GIVEN THE HOT/MOISTURE RICH

BOUNDARY LAYER IN PLACE /CHARACTERIZED BY LOW 90S TEMPS WITH LOWER

70S DEWPOINTS/ AHEAD OF THE STORMS...THIS WILL SUPPORT CONTINUED

INTENSIFICATION/SUSTENANCE AS THE QLCS MOVES EWD. THIS ENVIRONMENT

WILL ALSO FAVOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EMBEDDED MESOVORTICIES WITHIN THE

QLCS AS IT MATURES AND PROMOTE THE POTENTIAL FOR HIGHER-END WIND

DAMAGE WITHIN A BROAD SWATH OF ISOLD OCCURRENCES DMGG WINDS.

ALTHOUGH THE BACKGROUND TORNADO RISK IS LOW...THE LONGER LIVED

MESOVORTEX CIRCULATIONS MAY POSE AN ISOLD WEAK TORNADO RISK AS WELL.

QLCS Vortex moving towards the Metro, might pose a threat of enhance wind damage and a weak tornado

Ya know, the other day I was reading about how we're having a drought, and ever since then it's been monsoon season....

Yeah, the past 9 days of frequent rainfall has really helped to almost eliminate the June and early July dry spell.

Usually a hot dry June, can set the stage for a bad summer in terms of drought. So this rain is a big help.

How'd you guys in the north hills make out last night? Reports from the iflows gauges have Marshall Twp at 2.62" and Richland Twp at 4.29" for the past 24 hours!

I had 1.36 but I know North of me had a lot more.

About to get hit again.

Thunder to my northwest and the storms look to be moving slowly.

Should add on to the totals possibly of 6 inches for the month by later tonight.

Getting smoked here in the North Hills.

Just picked up .30 inches of rain in 15 minutes and rain is really coming down.

Thunder booming to the Northwest and strongest part of storm not even here yet.

Look for Flash Flood Warnings to go up soon here.

Some places have received 2-4 inches of rain since last night.

I was just about to post that it looks like Northern Allegheny County is getting hammered again. A lot of activity still in eastern Ohio yet it looks like.

Some impressive rainfall totals in the Northern Suburbs for the last 24 hours.

Richland 4.92 inches

Marshall 3.19

Hampton 3.11

North Hills 2.05

Shaler 1.78

My house 1.93 which would make sense as I am somewhere between Shaler and North Hills.

Tornado Warning up near Youngstown. Kinda weird though as the warning is for only 18 minutes. Spotter reported funnel cloud, so perhaps they aren't putting much stock in the report.

There was a couplet on radar, but was very brief and the storm itself was not too impressive. They probably realized it was only a quick, weak spin-up.
