north pgh
Rain has stopped but still getting some decent lightning and thunder. Best CTG show I have had in 2 years. Picked up .36 rain. No wind, just a lot of lightning and thunder and pockets of heavy rain. Storms seem to be backbuilding just to my north. If Ritual is still up they seem to be moving your way. Cool avatar BlackNGold....I stole that off a friend's facebook..it's now my desktop background! Back to the subject at hand: Looks like the record high of 78-1898 is safe for today. But mega-ridging should have us flirting/tying/breaking the record highs Tues-Thursday. Tues-79-1948 Wed-79-1948 Thurs-82-1938 Another note on this warmth, it's just not the daytime highs. meatwad
It's 10P.M. on March 22nd, and it's still 70°F out. Amazing heatwave for this time of the year. Currently 10 days in a row of 70+ in March, Which is a record, and we could see 12. If this was July, daytime highs could of been 105 to 115, and morning lows mid 70s to low 90s, with the same kind of extreme positive depatures we're seeing during this early heatwave. I hear what you're saying Meatwad...but in reality it doesn't work that way. The highest mean temperature ever in July (and for the entire year) on record for Pittsburgh is 91 07/10/1881 which puts it 19 degrees above the mean (I used the 1981-2010 mean for argumentative sake). The second warmest mean temp for Pittsburgh is 90 on 07/01/1901 which is 18 degrees above the mean. Not saying it can't sometime happen in the future (distant), but for us to have a +25-28 departure in the heart of July we would need a daily mean of 98-101...that puts things into perspective about how anomalous this recent pattern has been.
