Heavy snow being reported at AGC right now. Gotta love LES. I was just down in Washington and it was snowing so hard that the visibility was almost zero. Roads got covered very quickly. I'm now in Canonsburg and absolutely nothing. You can see it on the radar. Nice moderate to heavy bands going through those two areas. I'm currently in the area in between the two.

Ive had steady light snow for the last 4 hours or so. Not much new accumulation, maybe about a quarter inch at most but I didn't expect such a steady snow.

Same here. I ended up with about 5 inches total. I had 2 overnight Friday and Saturday morning. Not much Saturday day but Saturday night got under some nice bands and picked up about 2 more and had another inch overnight last night.

Not a bad litte storm again. A lot of blowing and drifting as well.

About 2 inches (give or take) through today. I found it odd yesterday to see them continuing to call for another 2-4" despite the radar being completely dried up. This again holds the 75% rule that I like to take from any snowfall predictions down here (or I guess 25% rule would be more accurate).

Yeah, but there were nice some bands in the Washington/Greene/Fayette county region that were producing 1" per hour snows late afternoon.Uniontown is less than 30 miles from you, and they got 3" in 3 hours an 6" total

So, they may not have made it to your locale, but they were still out there. So I don't blame the forcast, I think your just a bit unlucky lately. That's the nature of these. Morgantown can be a bit of a rough spot for the warm tongue too.

On a side note, I didn't do spectaculary well either. I've lived mostly north and east of town, and usually above 1,100 feet. So it's rare the NWS total is more than mine, but there have been multiple events this year where that has been the case. I measured 3.5" late afternoon yesterday, and had one real nice squall after that. So I put my total around 4", but there were a lot of 5" to 6" totals around.

Wow, where's that coming from? I would bet a million dollars against it happening but still curious. lol I haven't seen anything real promising on any of the models I've looked at so far.

It is just one of the ensemble members. I wouldn't put much faith in that at all, but it does show that there is a possibility the weekend storm takes a more favorable track to give us some snow.

12Z GFS starting to look interesting for Sat night into Sunday.

http://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/model_loops/12zgfs_namer_pcp.php

00Z GFS was interesting, 06Z GFS was ots, 12Z GFS is interesting again. Euro takes it ots. We still have a ways to go on this one before we come close to even having an idea where this thing is going to go. Most mets don't seem to be buying into it yet.

I don't buy it yet either. NCEP says GFS had initialization errors, and the UKMET has a tendency to over bomb in the longer range so they prefer the Euro solution. Given all the players on the field and the need for a perfect full phase to get us into an appreciable qpf I'd lean towards a non event and just include the chance of precip if I had to issue a forecast. Of course, should some of the Euro ensembles show something similar to the GFS that might change my tune a bit. At least we have something to track.

Oh my... lol 18z GFS looks like it is about to destroy SWPA..

Yeah, I'm looking at it now. The 00Z run will probably make it a lake cutter. LOL Just goes to show how unpredictable this one is so far. So many different factors to take into account. Not sure I would want this run anyway since it brings that freezing line awfully close to me. A good part of the storm for me would probably be ice just like a few weeks ago. Nudge it just a tad back to the east so we can all get 100% snow and I'll be happy! :D

I'd like to cash out now please....

Really, I don't think you will see a better solution for our area. To bad its not 12 hours out.

Yeah, someone save this run to their computer. Then, let's look back at it a few days from now and see how far off it ends up being. :D At least the GFS seems to be trending with the low making the turn anyway. Three of the last four runs have steered it northeast. I would just like to see the rest of the models start catching on to this as well! At the very least, it's nice to have something to track anyway. This may be an interesting few days to come.

I got it saved. Who knows what the end result will be but this run definitly provided some awesome entertainment lol. Verbatim it would probably be to warm for a lot of us given there is not really a good source for cold air around, but its awesome to see that track and qpf totals!
