north pgh
12z Nam throws some snow into extreme SW Pa. Catching on to some of the other models. GFS should be interesting.
RitualOfTheTrout
GFS spits a bit of snow in extreme SWPA as well. If that is accurate, we can hope for a 50-100 mile jog north to get everyone into some light snow. I think in this pattern, this is how these events are going to pan out. We won't have a 5-7 day lead time, its just going to show up in the 2-3 day range.

SteelCity08
Also was noticing a temps running a little bead above but it seems we've dropped back down to 32 at kpit. Nice batch of precip moving in from the west, it'll be interesting to see what it does, if anything.
blackngoldrules
I'm currently in Washington and I'm getting a bit of a light mix right now. Mostly rain with some snowflakes and sleet mixing in at times. Maybe it'll be a different story north of the city as the precip moves through. Digger
Per the NWS: This Afternoon: Rain, mainly before 4pm. High near 39. Big white rainflakes falling here too... On edit: Ok, I just looked at the text product for beaver county, as of 943 a.m. BEAVER- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...ALIQUIPPA...BEAVER FALLS...AMBRIDGE... MONACA...BEAVER 943 AM EST SAT FEB 4 2012 .REST OF TODAY...SNOW LATE THIS MORNING. RAIN. SNOW ACCUMULATION UP TO 1 INCH. HIGHS AROUND 40. NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 5 MPH. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 90 PERCENT. I guess my sarcasm was a little too quick...
blackngoldrules
I didn't have to go too far to see some better action. I'm in Canonsburg now and I'd say they've picked up about a half inch of snow on the grass here. Still snowing lightly but a heavier burst came through a little bit ago. RitualOfTheTrout
I've got some light snow falling, with a few rain drops mixed in ocassionally. I doubt we see much accumulation as the light snowfall rate is not enough to overcome the unfrozen ground + temps above freezing + day time variables. Seems like it's accumulating more south of Allegheny County, like the report from Canonsburg. Nothing up in New Ken, huh? Do you know any Hasers? One of by best friends uncle lives in New Ken. Parking lots are slush so it's mainly grassy areas. Coming down moderately right now. Seems like the heavier returns have been through this area so that's probably why it's accumulating here in spite of the temps.
blackngoldrules
Now, I just arrived in McMurray. Side streets are snow covered and route 19 is a bit slushy. Parking lot I am in is now covered and slushy if that makes any sense. Where did this come from? They just said a chance of rain and snow this morning. Hasn't turned to rain yet here like NWS said it eventually would.

Can't say that I do know any Hasers, I'm not originally from the NK, I originally grew up in the Freepdort area which is a bit North of here but not to far. blackngoldrules
I measured the snow when I got home last night I had about an inch and a half on the ground. Most of it is gone now. Just a little patch in front of my patio that the sun didn't get to today. It would be nice to get a system that we can all cash in on. Seems like if you guys to the north of the city get nailed, I get screwed here to the south and vice versa. Not that an inch and a half is anything great, but it was certainly well above expectations yesterday.
Digger
You wanna know what's really bizarre? I just went out and checked the swimming pool, and there's not a trace of ice on the cover, or in the pool water itself. I can't remember any February day ever where that's been the case.. blackngoldrules
I've always wondered that myself. Why put out a HWO just to say there's no hazardous weather expected? And yet, we are going to get some snow tomorrow. It's not a lot but still may be enough in some areas to make things a bit tricky.

north pgh
Snow is picking up again here. Have between 1/4 and 1/2 inch on grassy areas. Roads are wet.
RitualOfTheTrout
I've got about 1/2 inch or so in the areas that got the best coating. Some areas are still bare. Shame temps couldn't have been 2-3 degrees cooler, this looks more like an early October or late March snow rather than an early February snow. This year we gotta take what we can get though and it is nice to see snow falling outside.
RitualOfTheTrout
Well, most of the snow that has fallen melted away.
SteelCity08
I'd say that pic pretty much sums up winter around here so far lol. Hopefully we can salvage something in the upcoming weeks.
north pgh
Well, most of the snow that has fallen melted away. I little better over here. I definitely did a little better because of elevation. I was downtown today and everything was just wet. Came home to about 1.5 inches mostly on the grassy areas and trees. Great snowball fight snow!
