RitualOfTheTrout
What an ugly day outside... I think we have had more flood watches than winter weather related advisories this winter lol. It's bad when even the 384 hour GFS doesn't show a snow storm! I was reading some threads in the general forum, and one by HM in particular stating that with the current phase of some global indicies expect the models to not be good outside of 2 -3 days. Since they aren't showing anything worth looking at I'll take that as a good thing.

blackngoldrules
Man, it feels like there's a tropical storm moving through this morning with some of the wind driven rains we're getting. It's a very fine rain too like you'd see from a tropical system. We'll be somewhat back to winter by the afternoon anyway once the front moves through. RitualOfTheTrout
Looks like a robust albeit brief squall line may be developing with the front from the looks of radar. Looks like right now it would be the northern SWPA areas (say the city north) that see the best, but it could fill in a bit further south as it develops. blackngoldrules
I don't think I'm going to see much if any accumulation out of this line moving through. Temps are still too warm at the surface, at least around here anyway. Maybe a quick coating or dusting toward the end.
Digger
VISIBILITY WILL DROP TO HALF A MILE OR LESS WITH PASSAGE OF THIS LINE AND A QUICK INCH OF SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE. Digger confirms the visibility has gone to hell, just in the past 10 minutes. Heavy snow, yes. (And this is why I quit the snowplowing business--my truck blew a brake line yesterday morning, and nobody could get to it before Monday. Last year, I'd have been freaking out right now. This year, I don't care! )

But I did take the kids sled riding last weekend, and just now I took them outside because this is the first time this season we've had good, sticky, snowball snow. Digger
I ended up with a coating here. But what did fall has turned icy on the driveway and sidewalk. Be careful out there. On edit: Kinda surprised they haven't posted a SWS reminding people of that hazard. They're usually pretty good about that... (The other good news is that, with the amount I have left over from last year, at the rate it's been snowing this year, I won't need to buy rock salt again until I'm 114 years old.) RitualOfTheTrout
Thunder and Lightning here in Monroeville, power went out for a few seconds. Awesome! RitualOfTheTrout
Line has past me by. Gusty winds and a coating of snow is all that remains. I see the 18Z GFS has caught on to next weekends storm. Snow, Mix, Rain Snow. Something to watch this week anyway. Todays 18z looks like a typical Miller B scenario. If that is the ultimate outcome, we will be looking for the secondary to redevolpe in time to save us. With this winter I welcome even a slop storm to track lol. Reading the medium range thread in the general forum, seems to be some strong consensus for a 1-2 week period of wintry potential coming up in early Feb, so maybe we can cash in on something during that time frame. blackngoldrules
The rollercoaster ride back and forth between winter and spring continues. Temps up around 60 today. I don't see too much happening at this point from the potential weekend storm. I really don't want another slopstorm anyway. I think I've had enough of the freezing rain for a while after what happened a week and a half ago around here. That was no fun.
