NorEaster27
NAM only has .25" of precip now after 8pm today. yup, the storm is already moving faster than what the models showed yesterday and it doesn't really crank until its NE of the area. All the precip (rain for the city) is now during the day today.

Snowlover11
HPN reporting light snow at 41/24...steep lapse rates! Most of Westchester should be all snow in this event judging from radar and upstream observations. someone posted saying 10 miles above the bronx it is flurrying, i have light drizzle so far here, but the temp is dropping so we will soon enough see. Sundog
Most of us didn't think that NJ would see the ultimate banding in the Boxing Day blizzard and yet they did. Very difficult to nail down these types of features. You just have to wait and see.
jm1220
The elongated nature of the storm (and storm south of this one with all the convection off of Florida) could hurt us for a while. The question is what happens after the upper air dynamics for this one really kick in and take it to town. Hopefully we get a nice backlash band develop and keep us rocking until midnight or so east of NYC. If that band doesn't really develop, our snow impacts here will likely be a lot less. Hopefully we continue to see the 500mb low continue to close off on future runs also.

jdt
Wow that literally bullseyes me with 16". Those numbers are possible but will they be realized. The 12z snowdepth map is horrible.
TheTrials
people looking after 12 hours for snow are missing the snow from 6 through 12 hours and enough with those clown maps the biggest issue NYC is the mid level dry punch at 12z which shuts down the best dynamics and the column warms, then it snows again. Oh, and its snwoing for a lot of places already, so look outside!
