Saturn510
Latest short term AFD from Mt Holly: .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/... THE WELL ADVERTISED EARLY SEASON STORM WILL AFFECT THE REGION TODAY BRINGING SNOW TO THE N AND W, AND RAIN TO THE S AND E. IF THIS WERE DECEMBER OR JANUARY INSTEAD OF OCTOBER, WE`D BE LOOKING AT A SIGNIFICANT SNOWSTORM EVERYWHERE. WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED FOR NOW. THE UNDERLYING FORECAST RATIONALE HAS NOT CHANGED. LATEST GUIDANCE HAS TRENDED A BIT COLDER AND ITS POSSIBLE THAT SNOWFALL AMTS ARE HIGHER THAN THE CURRENT FCST, BUT WANT TO SEE IF THAT TREND CONTINUES WITH ADDITIONAL RUNS BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES. OVERALL, A NASTY DAY IS IN STORE. WHERE IT IS WARM FOR THE PRECIPITATION TO BE RAIN, IT WILL BE A COLD RAIN WITH GUSTY WIND AS WELL. PRECIP COULD EVEN TURN TO SNOW ALG THE I-95 CORRIDOR, WITH SOME LIGHT ACCUMS...MAINLY ON GRASSY SURFACES. && .SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 AM SUNDAY/... AS THE STORM PULLS AWAY TO THE NORTHEAST THIS EVENING AND EARLY TONIGHT, COLD AIR WILL WRAP AROUND AND PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO ALL SNOW IN MANY LOCATIONS WHERE THERE HAD BEEN RAIN PREVIOUSLY. THEN, PRECIPITATION WILL COME TO AN END AND THE SKY WILL CLEAR OUT AS THE NIGHT PROGRESSES. AS IS OFTEN THE CASE, THE SQUEEZE PLAY WILL BE ON BETWEEN THE EXITING MOISTURE AND THE COLD AIR, BUT BY DAYBREAK SUNDAY, THE STORM WILL BE A MEMORY. cny rider
Upstate NY here, near Cooperstown. Still a heavy frost on the lawn, with patches of snow left over from yesterday and a light north breeze so we are sending some decent cold air your way. It stayed clear here until just after sunrise so we cooled nicely.
