JamieOber
That heavy band that came thru Harrisburg is trying to press up into State College. Right now it's just south of a line from Lewistown to Selinsgrove. It does seem the pivot is starting to happen as the precip edge to the southwest is starting to hold it's ground, so I would count on seeing steady snow at least for the first part of the game. I cant wait to see this on TV. Anyone ever remember a college snowstorm game in University Park? I so wish this was a noon game. Is it just me or is the snow going to end earlier than expected (mid afternoon) for south PA? Yeah, anyone with any thoughts on this? Looks like a dry slot. Eskimo Joe
Is it just me or is the snow going to end earlier than expected (mid afternoon) for south PA? Brief lull then back end comes through. Upper level energy still has yet to make it into Western PA so we still have several hours. I do see everything wrapping up by 8:00pm though. Look at the southwestern end of the main part of the band... lots of 35+dbz returns showing up in there now.

Not liking this lull. Do not worry about it. This was modeled perfectly by the HRRR and other short-term numerical models. Big kudos to the EURO for detecting this over a week out. Mallow
When I was out driving, it was almost as if the trees were throwing snowballs at the car. Yup. And the snowballs keep getting more and more frequent. Now I look outside and it looks like it's both snowing snowflakes and snowballs.

hckyplayer8
Think I'm gonna head up to the ridge tops out this way. See how much they were able to accumulate since they should have the combination of heavy rates and colder surface.
2001kx
pretty boring up this way with light snow...maybe 1-1.5 on the grass. temp 35 and its not really adding up at all. all in all still impressive for late october up this way.

kerplunk
Doesn't appear to me that heavy band is going to make it into UNV - will be very close, but just to the east. Radar is filling in to the west a bit, but is spotty and looks pretty ragged compared to that band. Sure looks like the area around Mount Union got hit hard by by it though. EasternUSWX
Snow slowing down some but looks like that heavy heavy stuff will pivot back through. Up to 5" Trees popping. Here is video and some pics
MAG5035
Just got this in, someone measured 11" on Wopsy Mountain. That's insane! I figured the high ground was doin well around here today but not that well. That mountain is literally right out my window 5-7 miles away. I might have to take a spin up there. It seems that heavy band under State College has stalled and is washing out a little bit. Also appears to be a little bit more enhanced snowfall cropping up in Cambria County. Mallow
By the way, we should still have some good snow over us for the Penn State game, it appears. Especially if this band sets up over us, since it's barely moving.

Eskimo Joe
Over 100,000 people in the dark now in Pennsylvania. Two main bands developing to the west of US 15. Next 4 - 6 hours will be nuts for the Lower Susquehanna Valley.

PottercountyWXobserver
Congrats guys, looks like I was sorta right with the hard time accumulating in the valley areas. The ridge tops will do outstanding of course. I have a big fat 0" on the ground lol but it is snowing very lightly, temps are still fairly warm since we aren't in the heavy precip rates to cool the column of air. Temp is a toasty 34.3°F. The snow did slightly accumulate here in the morning hours when it first started but as soon as the light of the day started it melted.
