BTW welcome. I live 12 miles west of State College but grew up in York (right in the city near Kiwanis Lake/Parkway Projects).

Anyway, note that nice band forming on radar and moving north. Looks good, State College peeps.

Thanks! I'm a student at PSU Harrisburg, really looking forward to the game this afternoon. Wish I could be there, I was at the 1995 snow bowl and it was spectacular.

Folks in Lancaster and York Counties, expect the mixing to start soon. Below is an image of Sterling, VA radar from a few moments ago. I have been watching higher returns develop across southern York County, with snow being reported in this thread at the higher elevations. Higher returns appear to be large snowflakes and perhaps an ice pellet or two. Also take note of the wind direction across the region as a whole...turning to the NE. The surface low is taking shape, just as it should.

Yup - once it gets cranking and transports the cold 850's down to the surface. Convection looks impressive and the column should cool once that moves in. Right now, way too much SE fetch - looking at the 850 transport. Nice connection at 700mb Rh. This is just beginning. Heavy stuff, looking like 10-12 if I'm reading the Skew's correctly.

Any coating yet on top of Blue Mountain?

Not yet - too much wet laid down first and not enough of a fall rate so far. Talked to my sister at the bottom "of the hill" - rain. Elevation is all that is helping me right now (880'+ at house - 1000' end of my yard, up the "hill")

Maybe I should go pick up Cantore and have him report from here. :P

i was outside a little bit ago, when the heavier rain started, you could feel the temps dropping and the wind has picked up as well..

Anyone surprised WGAL is going for 1-3 across Lancaster?

Haha not at all. Local news media has been playing conservatively all week. Euro showed the possibility for measurable snow this weekend since at least Monday, but news didn't start reporting a definite possibility until Thursday. A little gun shy after Irene perhaps?
