Cheyenne (the closest) is not even close to similar in terms of the terrain around it for a comparison. Yeah...amazing. With a -16 reading, Laramie broke its own daily record low by 23 degrees! The old record for October 27 was 7F in 1970. With that said, it actually wasn't a record low temp for the month of October. Their daily record lows bounce around a lot this time of year, as it's completely dependent on snow cover. So, even though Laramie does get a lot colder than Cheyenne and other nearby areas, it was still an impressive temperature in its own right.
