What do you think will occur in the Westminster West, VT area with this system? The area I'd be going to is just up over 1100' I believe and in order to get to the cabin the mountain you have to drive up is not only on the steep side but in summer it can take a solid 5 minutes b/c you have to drive incredibly slow or otherwise you'd scrape the bottom of your car. Anyways my friend and I are trying to figure out snow potential b/c if they do get a decent amount we'll have to cancel the party.

I was thinking perhaps 2-4'' for them?

Lol that is pretty sweet... I've seen some upper teens thrown around here and there for up this way some of these upcoming nights. Lows in the upper teens and highs in the upper 30s... finally some BELOW normal weather! All those times of saying that highs in the 50s to near 60F were nice and cool... well this is going to be what negative departures feel like, haha.

50's and 60's are cool but this is cooler! Just did a quick ride on the mountain bike over a few trails I plan to kick around on tomorrow night. So psyched.

At least the clown maps have the right idea, they are just put together by Ron Washington.

Yeah they are pretty decent for highlighting the favored areas, but the actual amounts you obviously have to take with a grain of salt. They do show that the CP could get a burst late in the game to give them some accum.

I totally understand why it's done but ya have to admit its getting harder to ignore how cold this could evolve. Tip might be on top of this.

Yeah I bet this does verify plenty cold aloft... but even on the NAM the surface temps aren't all that great. The trick will be that lowest 1,500ft or so. Its still mid/upper 40s all the way to the Canadian border and north. Of course the storm is going to create its own cold air through melting processes, but everyone is making a big point about this cold air advecting in. It will have to come in aloft and then work down to the surface which can mean that Tips snowstorm stays at 2,000ft or it could come all the way down to 500ft.

Wrong, I posted the first time in September and within a week it snowed on the east coast. I again posted the Willow connection a week ago. You were in your torch coma. Ginx has recognized my achievement, sad that you can't.

Achievement award for the week. You win the following. A free trip to Mt Tolland, all expenses paid, to see the following, The amazing bucket of death, an awe inspiring non functional Davis VP, and the museum quality bronzed snow shovels used for the award winning snow sculptures. As a bonus you will be treated to tour the actual roads where the Spinmeister runs every morning, be dazzled by the spotless lawn, be amazed at the temperature difference as you ascend the mountain top. Congrats.

I only get to 24 here. ;( But, I haven't hit freezing yet this year, so having that and snow on the same day is a big day for the Pit.

I find it remarkable that you haven't hit freezing yet. You must have been close. I've seen frost at the top of the crest in Peru and at 2k. Either way, seems to be looking good for us. I can't wait to see the first flakes mix in tomorrow and then take over. I love the first snow.

LOL, I would like to visit Mt. Tolland as I'm trying to ski every major mountain range before I die.

I know West West, I have friends there. They usually do much better snow wise than Brattleboro/Putney. That should actually be one of the jackpot areas for this storm. They do a pretty good job plowing up there so the roads should not be bad cuz I doubt they get more than 3 or 4" max. Obviously less if the good qpf hangs south of Vt border.

I want to see some pics from the first X-C ski of the season. Enjoy it man.

We'll it will be dark but I'll get some pics. The town highway superintendant stopped by the 2k site at the end of the day today. He knows I pray to Ullr and he wanted to blame me for this.lol He said they were ready but not psyched to be cutting into the snowplowing budget in Oct.

I'm still stunned by this NAM solution

I'm still just stunned by the calendar date and the fact that there are 2, not just 1 - insane in its self - on the table

If neither did anything, it wouldn't bother me in the least - the very fact that we've had these opportunities at this time of year at all, people should count their blessings and enjoy it for what it is!

This.

Were not worried about the roads and all, it's the path up the mountain. It's an off road path and not really a road but a path with lots of gravel/rocks and a good deal of dips and such. I asked my friend if he knew anyone with a plow and he said the path can't be plowed b/c of how uneven the path is and how many rocks there are.

Bring your survival suit, back country crapons. many a man has died, expect conditions so extreme beasts dare not venture.

*** You might encounter hordes of children however as they do not have school in winter due to the certainty of death if left exposed to the elements. enjoy

My p/c from Box. I'd be happy with this. Cold night for sure on thursday.

Thursday: Rain before 4pm, then rain and snow. Patchy fog. High near 39. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 11pm. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 24. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Crashing heights can really cool the atmosphere fast as you well know. It will be fun to watch.
