Chicago Storm
With all of the fog/low clouds in place, it's pretty clear we're not going to even get near the 55-60F range that once looked possible for today. Sitting at 44 right now here and 45 at ORD.

Sitting at 44 right now here and 45 at ORD. Yeah, same story here. MKX really bumped high temps down from 55 to 48. I'll take it; one day of warm temps tomorrow, then rain and cooling temps as we go through the weekend.
cyclone77
Was overcast, cool and sort of foggy all morning with temps in the 40s. Quickly cleared around noon, and has since shot up to 54. turning out to be a very nice day. Happy T-day everyone.
michsnowfreak
What a bust of a forecast for Thanksgiving here! The morning low of 34F was more or less as forecast, but for the day the forecast was "Sunny, high 54F" instead it has been 100% overcast all day, have had a high of just 44F. Considering its late November though, this is a good bust imo

cyclone77
Made it up to 58 with the hazy afternoon sunshine. Looks to get pretty quiet again after the flurries Saturday night/Sunday morning in this area. DVN mentions quiet NW flow to dominate all of next week. on_wx
The winter of 2007-08 was something to remember everywhere. Wat-Wel airport picked up 251.4cm (98.9"). Discounting Pearson's lowballing, the Toronto area picked up ~210-230cm (~85-90") depending on the location. It wasn't that much more spectacular over there. Sometimes you give the impression that Mississauga's climate is akin to that of southern Virginia's. 98.9" for 07-08 I'll have to go back and check records I thought it was only 97". Nov 07 we had between 6.7" and 20.4"by December 5 I think quite a large margin of error going to have to check when I get back. Waterloo was not at 97" for 07/08... it was actually 101.4". A 2.5" difference from the RoW Int'l Arpt which is some 10 km or so southeast of here. "As the conditions don't seem to be there for any snow in the short or long term forecast let's call an end to the 2007-2008 snowfall season. Thus we ended up with 257.5 cm breaking the previous record snowfall season of 245.3 cm in 1923-1924." http://uwweatherstation.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
BowMeHunter
what a torch to the west in Iowa and southern MN.. 60's and even a 70 right now lmaooo. No end in sight for a sustained flip to winter.. fine with me as I got my fill of snow this past weekend in northern wi and almost a 12" storm. Hopefully we can time things right in between torches for a white Christmas and see where things go from there.. Big green golfing times and beach walks ahead. You don't strike me as the type to enjoy quiet walks a long the beach, although tomorrow looks to be a good day to to that. Might be some lake effect fun Sunday though. It's now looking like a boring stretch of highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's for our area next week.

Love me some lake time and beach walks....but...not in november and dec unless its on ice and that's not happening anytime soon here its appearing. is what it is and lets just hope for a better pattern ahead. though were due for a dec where daddylongs is still drying his stained skidders on the clothes line most of the month. I'm at peace already if a sub-par winter ensues.

Chicago WX
Skilling seems to have missed this one. http://blog.chicagoweathercenter.com/ November 23, 2011 10:45 PMBy Meteorologist Tom Skilling Temperatures are hovering near 50-degrees several thousand feet above the ground Thursday morning while colder ground-level temperatures at some locations west of the city have dipped to near freezing during the night. Once the mix-down of warmer air begins, readings will surge, headed for a 61-degree high---the first 60 to occur here on Thanksgiving since 1998! Though it is only for MBY of course, but it's been too good of a run lately with winters. The other shoe has to drop at some point, as of reasoning as it is...but climo is also staring me in the face. Alas, whatever will be, will be. on_wx
The Weather Network 5 day forecast has just gone up to 110mm of rain and 5cm of snow for Waterloo ON Sun-Tues. That'd be some serious flooding if it verified... which it probably won't.

michsnowfreak
It seems to me like everything is on track as we end November. Should see snowflakes throughout the region Sun-Mon, and some cold shots appear in the offing. This "winter cancel" and "Im preparing for a crappy winter" type stuff was seen in Nov of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, etc. It is then forgotten by the time April rolls around as we are reminiscing about a snowy winter, but it returns immediately when the next November gets here and there isnt a mantle of white laid down across the region by mid-month. "Winter cancel" is a mix of sarcasm, pessimism, and anticipation that is seen EVERY SINGLE YEAR at this time. The anticipation is always killer at this time of year. But relax guys. Its coming. It always does. Another banner year on tap for the Lakes. We are in a snowy cycle. Everyone knows I love snow, but Im fearing that this snowy cycle has to end sooner or later, it just has too. But theres too much potential on the board that makes it seem that it will not be ending in 2011-12.
