That time of the yr again and the 9 day gun hunting season.. Not much for snow on the ground in NW WI but that looks to change saturday and sunday AM should be a hunters dream and post card setting view from the tree stand as daylight breaks.

Not looking forward to coming home to the tropics on wed but poking around in the SNE sub-forum it sounds like a pattern change is in the works towards week 4 on the euro weeklies and the Vortex of Death in AK is gone.. Hopefully that sets us all up perfectly for a wintery weather holiday season that's void of a grinch storm around christmas.

Happy we could sneak in these past two days stuck in the 30's and I was outside in every daylight min of it to get my candy ass accustomed to chilly weather again before this weekend.

Warm air advection aloft is in full swing, up to -5 °C at 850 hPa, and a balmy -1 °C at 925 hPa. The WAA is mixing to the surface a bit and we're seeing south winds, and temp falls have reversed. Our low for the night will probably be the 26 °F recorded at 11 pm.

Thanks Rocky Mountains for the downslope warming!

That persistant troughiness in the alaska/goa area is quite annoying. Like a nat flying around your head. I suspect this was not expected in November by the sum of people going with a big cold winter.

Frankly, give me the storms. Don't need it cold all the time for those. Part of the charm of 07-8.

To much cold could keep us dry. Ill take the storms also as long as there is enough cold air to produce snow for most of us!

Exactly, and to me that is a much bigger concern than torching and being on the rain side of systems. I wouldn't worry as much about that in Indiana, though, given the predicted mean storm track being more or less near or just north of the OV.

Winter came on time here. Although I would like to see the cold becoming less transient. As far as the SNE region getting a synaptic bruiser..who cares let them enjoy it. This pattern looks to completely buckle right around the 1st of the month. There is a fair amount of cold air building to the north and a decent snow pack forming. The cold air will pour it's way down..like it does every year. Not picking or moneymanning here but it was nice to see my first solid dusting/coating last night.

I'm taking winter's slow arrival in stride. But so help me Jebus if SNE/N MA gets another snowstorm before I've seen a dusting. Blood will be shed.

Hey, but just think of how many freezes you've had. NYC may have had 2.9", but they've still yet to hit 32!

That's why Its nauseating by the Winter cancel garbage comments on November 17th when Ive all ready had 2 days of dusting snowfalls. One things for sure living in the great lakes will get are snow and cold. It might be 30" all year but we will get it.

The winter cancel crowd is always out this time of the year. Nature of the beast I guess. I'm just ignoring 'em now. Of course we also have the "not here in good faith" members such as River Card/Respiratory Guy and Tropical/cromartie who are just here to troll. Shame really...

Alas, it'll be whatever it's going to be. Let's hope for a snowy one. :)

Cromartie/Saukville/Palmguy69/Tropical really believes what he is saying. Dude uses common sense and logic, along with an immense background in atmospheric sciences to conclude that Saukville will once again torch all winter :)

6z GFS says snooze fest for this area... I don't see anything to get excited about. Probably have to wait until Christmas before we get our first 20 inch snowfall.
