Looking down the road, some nice temperature contrasts (of 2m departures) being modeled for next Sunday and Monday. A true west vs east battle.

I just made a mess in my pants looking at that.

64F here right now with a heavy shower. Was outside until just before and it was mix sun/clouds and gorgeous.

We need one of these maps all winter.

Looks like the cold is shoved away as the warmth retrogrades west. I'll take it.

Interesting pocket of extremely dry air over southeast Iowa. Several stations reporting dews in the mid teens. Seem legit as checking back at earlier obs they were near 50 earlier today. Must be some VERY dry air mixing down from above the BL. Our dews have dropped from near 50 earlier today down into the mid 30s.

DVN concerning the potential next weekend...

FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY...INTERESTING SITUATION AS MAJOR TROUGH

IN THE WESTERN UNITED STATES PUMPS GULF MOISTURE INTO THE MIDWEST ON

A PERSISTENT STRONG LOW LEVEL JET. DEPENDING ON HOW FAST THE

MOISTURE RETURN IS THERE COULD BE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS LATE FRIDAY

NIGHT NORTH OF I-80. THIS WOULD BE OCCURRING WITH STRONG WARM

ADVECTION ON THE NOSE OF THE LOW LEVEL JET. CONTINUED FEED OF WARM

MOIST AIR DUE TO A DEEP SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT SHOULD ALLOW FOR

DESTABILIZATION OF THE ATMOSPHERE WITH SHOWALTERS WELL INTO THE

NEGATIVE NUMBERS. WILL MENTION CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS

FOR THE WEEKEND...WITH LIKELY POPS SUNDAY NIGHT AS STRONG COLD FRONT

ARRIVES. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH MAX TEMPS

ON SUNDAY WELL INTO THE 60S IF NOT 70+. GIVEN THE SYNOPTIC PATTERN

WITH SUCH STRONG WIND FIELDS PROGGED BY THE ECM A RATHER UNUSUAL

LATE NOVEMBER SEVERE WEATHER EVENT IS POSSIBLE. STAY TUNED.

Interesting stuff i found. After viewing that/euro etc i went and looked back at Novembers that featured what we have and may look to have this go around with Nina and amazingly enough the closest i could find to this month was ONLY 1964. I went all the way back to the late 1890s too. Thus i guess what you can say is that what we have is pretty rare. Note the warmest + departures are in the GL/NE and thus north.

Well done. I'd take a 1964-65 repeat for what it's worth.

Thanks. That winter i see featured a pretty cold Feb and March which is also when most of the snow fell around here. Every month ( D-J-F-M ) was below normal temps but yeah Feb and March were well below normal. The holidays ( Christmas/New Years ) kinda sucked ( torchy with 53 on Christmas eve ) but the rest of it was not too bad around here. November started out very torchy with 60s and 70s till the 17th when it finally broke.

And then during the spring that followed that winter ... :yikes::twister:

That is just ugly. Very very ugly. I guess it is better to be warm now while temps can routinely get into the 60s and low 70s than have this during good snow fall months. 77F today was so nice and warm, we could see 75F tomorrow here if we can get any sun.

See November 64 which featured alot of this. That November though had a few 70+ days and a slew of 60s around here. Had a brief period ( 5 days ) of below normal temps right before Thanksgiving. It wasn't till the 29th that the cold came in and stuck around for a little while.

Had some thunderstorms wake me up a little early this morning. Very nice. Here's to hoping for the best for later today.

Had quite a bit of street flooding around Lebanon this morning. Did get some storms rolling through around 6am, quite a bit of lightning also.

Should be interesting to see how things play out today..
