Roger Smith
Just a heads up that the organizer (T.Q.) has decided to go ahead with a northeast U.S. forecast snowfall contest this winter. Because of the late announcement, the deadline has been extended from the usual Dec. 1st to Dec. 15th this year. You can get all the details at the blog: http://newxsfc.blogspot.com/ Your seasonal forecast will cover 25 stations scattered throughout the northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Then whenever a "contest-worthy" snowstorm appears in reliable model time, a call for forecasts will go out and you can predict snowfall for basically the same locations for that storm. I entered last year and found it very educational as well as a fun challenge against some experienced forecasters including some familiar names on this weather forum. You should give it a try. If you come across this after the deadline, you can still enter the snowstorm contests as they develop.
