snowstormcanuck
Its good night to sit in the garage smoking a cigar and drinking some ginger ales and watch the storm. Just got in from puffing a $20 Davidoff. What a waste of money. 0.51" here so far.

RUC really gives us a soaking overnight as the llj strengthens. Elevated instability means maybe a rumble or two.
Stebo
It is just pouring here, I'd estimate us above 1.50" so far here in Eastpointe on the east side.

I think in general the "always prepare for an aggressive dryslot" rule is sound, but every once in a while you get a wildcard. I would have preferred the exception being GHD 2011 though. SpartyOn
I know a few of you might disagree..The NAM did what I see as a decent job with regards to a general track. Precip wise the NAM did ok but I gotta hand it to the high res. GFS did sniff this beast out early so in that respect I must give it credit even though it took it away then morphed it into what we currently have. Models....lol

an uncanny otter
We're at just under 1.8" for the past 24 hours here. The are entire area has just been getting drenched all day, and the wind has really picked up in the last few hours. The rain's tapered off a bit for now but it looks like it'll pick up again overnight. Perfectly miserable weather out there. I love it

BowMeHunter
Nothing worth noting here on the east west side outside a few gust to maybe 40-45... GHD storm was just relentless intensity and it will be a very hard storm to ever top IMBY.

hm8
Nasty outside right now. One of those days when an umbrella doesn't really do much because of the wind. Pretty much had to hold it at a 90 degree angle to keep the crappy thing from turning inside out. 'Bout half an inch of rain so far
Trent
The NAM was way too west with the high QPF amounts. Even as early as this morning, it was only showing about a half inch of rain in CLE. Here it is still pouring outside with a good 2-2.5" of rain today. What an awesome storm for CLE to break the all time precip record with.
jdrenken
Anyone have confirmation of the mixing reports? I've seen post regarding mixing in the Eastern KY mountains...but a few "outlets" are reporting snow in IN and MI mixing with the rain.
baroclinic_instability
Ok mid way through the storm...now let's decide what model did the best with this one. You can't. No "one" model did best. Not to mention many aspects need to be considered...and it isn't even close to done yet. Track, intensity, rainfall totals, winds, etc all need to be considered. Already down to 986 per HPC. On pure deepening the RGEM will likely lead the way with its 980-981 it has suggested the last two days. NAM early on was down sub-980 then backed off. GFS was consistently 990+, but it was more consistent on placement of heavy qpf. Really can't pick a model "winner" here, especially not yet. baroclinic_instability
gosh those are pure weather porn..i saved the vis sat back in April, but that WV image is sweet. Yeah agreed, that storm was not only sick in terms of its impacts, some of the coolest satellite images I have seen in a long time. love systems like this when you can clearly see so many details going on. Yeah these beast storms are always exciting to watch develop.
