Moving on to mid/late November

If the ensembles showed a promising pattern around T-day and beyond...people would be all over it. It doesn't mean we're a lock to have a bad pattern into December, but there's not a lot of evidence that we will have much of a wintry pattern to close out November. Perhaps we get a nice pattern cranking by first week of December....maybe we have to wait until Dec 15 or Dec 20....hard to say right now.

wouldn't be much different than last year...as in, waiting for the wintry pattern to get going

I'm planning to fly to Anchorage and then Fairbanks for the week of my 70th bday in 5 years during the first week of December.

That sounds like a fine idea. Why wait? Ever been to AK? Do some flightseeing. Much better in a small plane. I can set you up with the plane and pilot. It gets you upclose and personal. Bring an extra pair of shorts just in case.

Yeah the idea of a low flying plane in an oncoming winter storm doesn't thrill me...lol. Maybe next year to celebrate the nice raise I get when I start collecting SS.

You pretty much have to stay grounded if there is heavy weather coming in. Saw a great storm there in April as a 930mb low crashed into us. 100mph winds on the coast and 50+" of new snow in the high terrain. Very Impressive.

I'm doing an internship at the NWS in Anchorage next summer. I'm doing the site visit December 18-20 ... with zero daylight lol

Right..but we should start seeing signs things are about to flip. 2 weeks ago there were posts flying around about how great the Euro ens looked as we headed for the holiday..now all we see are negative posts about it was the warmest Euro ens run in history..no cold air anywhere in Candada etc etc..Let's get some positivity going

Because it's funny to see weenies get worried and worked up. December is not always a snowy month...so why does this one have to be. I'm not in the least way suggesting it won't be, but these last few Decembers have spoiled us. It would be pretty amazing to have another December as snowy as the last 4.

+10 to +15 above normal pattern looks to continue into mid December now.; No cold air in Canada, no snow in December,-PNA for a good month or more, +NAO, Weeklies and ensembles warm from beginning to end...no worries ..it's only Nov 13th..Things are sure to flip soon :arrowhead: It's always warm in November..we shouldn't be seeing any signs of a pattern change if we want cold, snowy Dec
