Things certainly can change very quickly. So what there isn't a whole ton of cold built up yet but we're starting to see some build up. It's only November 13th. Winter/cold doesn't have to be in place as soon as it hits December 1st. Remember last year everything sucked until January, although the December pattern showed major promise. I think we'll see the same this year and we will see a pretty solidly negative NAO be the norm for the winter...SSTA's around Greenland are supportive as well as QBO/solar. I don't even care too much about how cold the pattern looks, just as long as the pattern looks active and has potential...well as long as we aren't seeing storms that are cutting to the west of us. As we go through winter as long as we aren't in an above-average temperature pattern we really don't need a great deal of cold air to get snow...just average temps would be fine for most of us.
