A lot of places in the lower interior are still calm or have light and variable winds. If we can get a little 5-10kt mixing those spots should shoot into the temp lead.

Yeah places like BOS/PVD/ORH have been NW at around 10-15 mph virtually all morning which has really helped them to bake. BDL has been virtually calm but if that wind can pick up over the next few hours they could completely spike up.

Still seeing virtually no wind here so have to see if any can develop.

If you love weather you have to give this event some respect, and this pattern last month was an inferno, BOS was already +3.4 coming into today with plenty of above normal on the way.

Enjoy it folks, one day soon it will be 38 with bare ground in the dead of winter, and you wont be able to do anything.

Heading to Swansons to pick up some steamers, musssels, and lobster................

AWT. BOS is toasting like a mofo. I just went for a run and it feels like June out there.

On a side note, my folks said people are out on Lake Winnipisaukee in jet skis...on Columbus Day weekend no less.

This is awesome! Should stay like this up until December 1st then let it be cold with all the snow possible.

Well many spots above 1,000ft or so might fail to hit 80 (although ORH may get to 79). That's still a mega torch.

I might. I'm looking at the Marlboro (VT) reading--that and East Dover both have 80. Marlboro and I frequently have close readings, so I think there's a good possibility of hitting it here today.

Nice breeze keeping it refreshing.

Yeah some areas might. ORH could do it. Impressive if they do.

The climb here has really slowed--77.7/50, so perhaps I'll avoid it. Increasingly thinking I might hit 50*, but it's not a given that's for sure.

That's usually what happens. The climb in the higher spots seems to really slow after 1pm or so. Even lower elevations will just creep up.

I wonder if the calm winds have really prevented BDL from torching much higher. Although winds slightly beginning to pick up here...wonder where BDL where be with the 2 PM obs.

You know it's funny.....I thought about that. I knew BDL would radiate, but sometimes the valleys can stay cool this time of year because the sun is weaker and cannot mix the atmosphere like it can from June through August. That's what is going on now, but BDL is really jumping up in temps. Part of the reason why I also thought BOS might beat BDL..but it could end up neck and neck.

I went out for a paddle on Little Sebago this morning and saw somebody waterskiing at 8:30. When I saw that I put my finger in the water ... no way would I be skiing in water that cold. Holy hell ...

78.2F at 1100 feet in Central NH. Temperatures are now starting to level off at 1:45pm. Yesterdays high was 77.7F. Color coming on extremely rapidly. Big change in last 2 days but still several days from peak.

Oh I bet it is cold....but for those brave ones...perhaps fueled by alcohol....it's probably not too bad.

There is an old draw bridge about a half a mile from here that goes up to lets boats from a little marina in the Neponset River go out to the harbor. That thing has been up and down all day and totally screwing up traffic on the streets. I can't believe the boat traffic.

Foliage in my immediate area is horrible. The hail damage is really evident now as the parts of the leaves surrounding all the bruises/holes in them turn brown and expand. Some of the birch trees are completely leafless now.

This is about as busy as the lake was during the 4th of July... quite rare. Overall boat traffic is way down this year.

And you're going to need to start spelling Winnipesaukee correctly. :sun:

BDL has made a significant jump, just about +30F in 5 hours! Meanwhile BOS has done a +17F jump.

I was wondering if the 51F start at 8 AM kept BDL from getting to 90F but then again not so sure b/c they have really jumped big time...had they started off like 60F the jump wouldn't be as significant. BDL just never got into that full effect of downslopping today so mixing probably not fully realized like you said.
