ineedsnow
40/39 and partly cloudy so much for frost tonight!
ORH_wxman
The best calm conditions seem to be over ORH county right now...lots of lower 30s showing up in the typical elevated valleys there. My nearest mesonet station is down to 31.6F, but they are in a nice basin at 670 feet. Here its 38F. Winds are preventing some lower temps elsewhere. But we still have a few hours to go. CoastalWx
Clouds are screwing up the cooling right now. Didn't really see that.
ORH_wxman
Clouds are screwing up the cooling right now. Didn't really see that. I noticed a lot of 5-7 mph winds...but this might be because of clouds...not allowing for decoupling. I didn't even check the satellite. But you are right...that is a big reason. The clouds have been less over central MA all night. Even W MA got some earlier...but E MA has been getting them all night.

Lots of cold reading in ORH county and uncharacteristically warmer readings in E MA in the usual radiational cooling spots.
CoastalWx
Euro weeklies looks seasonal to perhaps a degree or so cooler than normal with NPAC ridging and a developing NAO ridge week 2 and 3, but turn a bit warm again in the first week of Novie with a trough in the west....but still some ridging in the NPAC and over to Kamchatka. CoastalWx
Hey Will, have you noticed any correlation to ridging in western Russia? This seems to be a persistent feature. At first guess, I don't think it's a bad thing for the winter, but have you noticed any seasons that featured something like this? It seems ok when it comes to teleconnections. Russia is enormous...what part...like Eurasia? A lot of Russia can be western...like west-central can be one thing and then far west Russia can have a totally different look. The area closer to Moscow, maybe several hundred miles to the northeast. I noticed ridging there is persistent on some of the models.
CoastalWx
Have a frost here at work, but seems rather light so far. I think temps are dropping now that the clouds have moved out for the time being.
ORH_wxman
E MA temps dropped like a rock when skies cleared...but we'll see if its enough to create widespread frost.

Damage In Tolland
We have nothing to look forward to in the weather for over a month. One full month of above normal temps, awful foliage, and rain.
