Pretty strong cold front coming through this evening! I think it will be the chilliest night here yet this dry season in Melbourne, with the NWS predicting a low of 45 tonight.

No doubt and VERIFIED on the Treasure Coast. I just came in from enjoying the rush of cool breeze. Estimating 25-35 with an occasional gust higher and no precip. Did look possible for a short time. Blew over an awesome lighted white/blue exterior xmas tree that was staked in (albeit the ground is very soft). The tree in question is our oldest surviving piece and out for it's 7th season. Probably will be the last!

Off to NJ for 3 months. It's supposed to snow Wed night. Crap!

Have a nice trip! Don't forget to write (in the FL thread)! smile.png

It got pretty windy here too. Currently only 62 degrees in Miami at 10 am.

Cold front just in time for christmas? GFS and Canadian models say yes. At this point though the ECMWF has a totally different pattern at 240 hours than either the Canadian or GFS. I've noticed this a few times recently where the GFS tries to break the subtropical ridge too much in the extended time frame. At some point the pattern will break, but the ECMWF probably has a better track record in the past month or so. Lets hope the ECM comes in line with the other models during the next couple of days.

The GFS ensemble mean shows a ridge in the west and a trough central and east, but the magnitude is highly in question right now.

Damn this is a warm Winter season so far. Last year for the month of December I was below freezing on 16 days. Now I know last year was really cold but the best I have done so far this December is 33 degrees. There is no cool down in sight through next week so I may not even see 32.

Also the mean temp last December was 46. So far this year, 59. And no damn squall lines or storms to boot.

Things haven't worked out well so far for my winter forecast (cool, dry). I still believe that we'll see a switch to -NAO/-AO, although timing is hard to determine. The ECMWF suggests the polar vortex will return to Alaska and stall, which could help keep the AO positive for some time still. Unfavorable EPO conditions in conjunction with an MJO stuck in 3/4/5 certainly isn't helping things...

Same IMBY but warmer than you. I have not seen 39 for sure. I have been working a lot and don't pay acute attention in the dry season but the upper 40's so far is all I can brag about on the Treasure Coast.

I do A lot of fishing in the Gulf and usually by this time it's shut down because the water get so cool. Not this year. It's like fishing in July or August out there. Fish are everywhere. :D

It was in the low 20's the other night. LOL. :shiver:

Then again, I'm in NJ, not Florida. I assume it's still in the 60's at night down near Ft. Lauderdale. :icecream:
