CLOUDY... RAINY AND UNSEASONABLY CHILLY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE

REGION. COOL TEMPERATURES OF 15 TO 20 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL MAKE

IT SEEM MORE LIKE EARLY NOVEMBER THEN EARLY OCTOBER.

ALSO...OVER THE WEEKEND SNOW FELL IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF

SKYLINE DRIVE NATIONAL PARK IN VIRGINIA...IN HIGH-ELEVATION AREAS

OF FAR WESTERN VIRGINIA AND THE UPPER POTOMAC HIGHLANDS OF WEST

VIRGINIA AND WESTERN MARYLAND. IN SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK ALONG

PORTIONS OF SKYLINE DRIVE IN WEST-CENTRAL VIRIGINIA...PARK RANGERS

NOTED A LIGHT ACCUMULATION OF SNOW.

THE 2-DAY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN WASHINGTON DC OF 51.8

LOWEST BEHIND 46.3 DEGREES MEASURED FOR THE SAME PERIOD IN 1899

AND 50.3 DEGREES IN 1916. RECORDS DATE BACK TO 1872. THE NORMAL

AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST TWO DAYS IN OCTOBER IN
