40 degrees in Gaithersburg... time to bust out the winter coat.

I busted out the winter coat last week, I've had a few chilly mornings here. But I did bust out the hat and gloves to walk the dog this morning. BRRRR.

Hard freeze here at 31. So long summer annuals. Heavy fog in places too.

I didn't think it would get this low last night. The rain water in my inner tube of the CoCoRAHS gauge froze along with the funnel cap to the outer tube. No damage though. Time to put that away for the winter...and the backyard hose.

Up to 1" of snow in my NWS forecast for tonight.:snowman:

Amazing microclimate around my house. 35.7 for the low, no frost, windows on the car were wet. As close as 6 houses and maybe 30ft of elevation drop down the street the grass was white and people were scraping their windows.

I got down to 30 and had lots of frost.

Stats for October IMBY:

Avg High: 63.3F Depart: -2.2F

Avg. Low: 44.0F Depart: +0.2F

Precip: 4.06" Depart: +1.11"

Snow!: 2.0" Depart:+ 2.0"

Second consectutive month of negative high temp departures, and the largest negative departure here this year. Interestingly, the low temp departures were once again positive (just barely), just like for every month this year. Second consecutive month of positive precip anamolies.

Any of you analog gurus have any analogs for weak to moderate Nina winters that followed colder and wetter than normal Sep and Octobers?
