I've just gotten the fall colors here in the last few days. Yesterday was good, out driving around, but today is amazing.

Shhhhhh... but...I'm thinking I badly want the rain, but maybe just a gentle one so the leaves don't crash, before I go over to Carrollton Sun. usually a very pretty drive in fall peak. 71.6 now...those clouds are packing heat. Tony

If goofy is right then I will end up with about .08-.10 of drizzle/sprinkles overnight. It's the east/ne breeze that is stripping the yellow/orange leaves off my oak today

Radar is really sparse into eastern TN, GA, and western NC. The big slug of moisture that was there this morning seems to have moved to the northeast without much replacing it:

rgnlrad.gif?1319835716297

It doesn't look too good for future rainfall; however, GSP thinks the rain will fill back in later this evening and overnight:

DEEP LAYER FORCING WILL IMPROVE THIS EVENING AS MAJOR TROUGH CURRENTLY MOVING OVER THE MISS VALLEY INTENSIFIES/BECOMES NEGATIVELY TILTED. THIS SHOULD RESULT IN PRECIP SHIELD...WHICH CURRENTLY IS NOT IN THE BEST OF SHAPE...FILLING IN OVER THE AREA. THEREFORE...WILL CONTINUE TO ADVERTISE CATEGORICAL POPS THIS EVENING...GRADUALLY SCALING THEM BACK FROM WEST TO EAST OVERNIGHT AS COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE REGION. HIGH ELEVATION TEMPS HAVE GENERALLY REMAINED A FEW DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING OVER THE NORTHERN MTNS...BUT HAVE BEEN FALLING VERY SLOWLY. I STILL EXPECT SOME PATCHY FZRA TO DEVELOP BENEATH THE WARM NOSE THIS EVENING...BUT THIS SHOULD BE CONFINED TO LOCATIONS ABOVE ABOUT 5000 FEET. ONCE DEEP LAYER COLD ADVECTION MOVES INTO THE AREA LATE TONIGHT...THE WARM NOSE WILL BE ELIMINATED AND SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP TO ABOUT 3000 FEET OR SO. SOME MEASURABLE WINTRY PRECIP WILL BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT...BUT MAINLY CONFINED TO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. ACCUMS AND COVERAGE SHOULD NOT BE SUFFICIENT TO WARRANT ANY ADVISORIES. ANY LINGERING PRECIP WILL MOVE QUICKLY EAST OF THE AREA SATURDAY MORNING...ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE A BRIEF PERIOD OF STRONG/MOIST NW FLOW ACROSS THE TENN VALLEY...WHICH SHOULD RESULT IN SOME LINGERING SNOW SHOWERS ALONG THE TENN BORDER. OTHERWISE...SKIES SHOULD CLEAR RAPIDLY ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF STRONG CAA/ DOWNSLOPE FLOW. MAX TEMPS SATURDAY SHOULD BE ANYWHERE FROM 10 TO 15 DEGREES BELOW CLIMO.

Freeze watch up for tomorrow night for portions of NC

http://forecast.weat...t1=Freeze+Watch

Probably have another one Sunday night also.

So thats bye bye tomato and pepper plants.

GA/SC probably wont get much but look at the radar. Convection starting to fire up along the warm front.

Asu has a web cam on campus now. On my iPhone so I Do not have he address for it. Can search it on Facebook..

Radar is not picking up on the heavy drizzle here in the northern foothills. I am satisfied. I can not spare too many degrees for evaporation cooling anyway without running into ptype problems.

Boone is reporting snow now. Can anyone verify? Looks like 36degree readings are moving in over western Wilkes.

The red circled area is where showers recently popped up. Coverage is not great however. Low appears to be forming over southern Georgia, further south than RUC is predicting, moving northeast. Surface pressure readings indicate a CAD event.

Good catch, and the WV shows this system is about to ingest a gulp of Caribbean PW's... Clear that something broke off Rina and is coming through the FL peninsula, about to be ingested, thinking this may be one for the books about 4 hours NNW of here. Pretty much now-casting for them, we saw the models within 72, just need to chill and see how the CCB develops over the next 12-18 hours. 43.7 atm here just northwest of PGV, a few drops, virga well underway per L2 out of RAH.

Im at 56 and falling. We had a nice shower move through and have some drizzle now. I think today may be the leaf peak IMBY. We have some green oaks but everything else is at peak. The hickories are especially beautiful this year.

Same here just down the road from you. It finally is nice to join in the fun.arrowheadsmiley.png Temps had steadily stayed in the 63-68 range all day, though it tried to spit a few sprinkles on me while I was out at Kennesaw Mountain on a hike. Also was wondering if anyone else's temps had busted by 10 over, which they did for a few other GA posters.

Edit: Just checked and saw that they updated the high temp for MBY @ 3:05pm, which is roughly about the time I hit my high.

And throw what's left of Rita into the mix and there's the needed boost we need! She's still sitting out there somewhere near Cuba. I'll be interested to see how she plays into this mix.

EDIT: I see I'm a little slow!

Also, I busted by 6 degrees, hit 69.

How were the colors over there? I think I'm gonna try and take a hike there tomorrow. Wind has picked up quite a bit here within the last 20 minutes. Hope all the leaves don't fall off :(

In other news its 56o here. Light rain is falling and its breezy. Disappointed we aren't gonna get much rain. Hope this bust isn't a sign of things to come this winter...

Don't feel too bad tony, i was in the heat all day long, wasn't until just a little while ago the temps started falling. Low cloud deck moving NNE but winds are out of the NE.

Thanks, Steve. Tell you the truth, I'd gladly forego this cad, if being closer to the low, and any injection from Rina would up my precip. totals. Still, if the cad can squeeze on down here, it bodes well for later in the winter, when we get the cad/gom low grudge matches. T

Check the fall pics thread in about 30 minutes.

I'm down to 51.5 and I think I got my forecasted total in the last 30 minutes, which NWS said was only supposed to be around 0.25". I fear that as well, Justin.
