Went up to Talking Rock this evening. When I left Talking Rock about an hour and a half ago it was 46 degrees I came back to Marietta and now the the temp is 53 degrees. An elevation difference of only 150 feet but being up in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains really dropped the temperature. Talking Rock is in Gilmer County about an hour north up I-575 from here. Really interesting that the temp can be so different in a 50-60 mil difference and only a 150 feet in elevation.....

I suspect the difference had more to do with being 50-60 miles further north than the 150 foot gain in elevation. I wouldn't think that a 7-degree difference over that distance would be all that rare of an occasion.

I think distance north and being out in the country were the two main factors followed lastly by elevation. Marietta is a heat island..... But yeah I think you are correct 150 feet is not going to make a big difference if any...

50.9 here. Wonder if you'll be in the cat bird seat again this winter. Got a feeling this might be a winter for cads, sleet, ice. Which would fit you well :) T

i sure hope so :) not sure if i really hit the 30s or not. had a reading of 39.8 lol so i guess that technically counts

Way too much mixing of the air last night for 30's east of the mountains...that's always a factor in early fall cool snaps. I was over in Sullivan County TN overnight, never got down below 46 where I was, actually got misty late evening into the early morning hours. I did noticed snow over toward Roan Mountain on the way back this morning, it was 37 in Newland at 10:30 am.

46.2 last night in the heart of Marietta.... I actually went lower than Dobbins last night which recorded a low of 47...

Dang, I was colder that folks in Mayretta! Now if I just had Joe's snow :) 43.1, 43.2, 43.6 on my 3 units. T

If the first number is a 3, you are good to go. T

We hit 40.7 last night. Maybe 30s tonight? I spent the weekend in Mccaysville and it was pretty darn cold. the trout would hardly bite due to the front.

I just had an image flash through my head of a trout in front of a blue screen pointing to the cold front approaching the stream. I think I need help.

You are right Acworth. I was wading the Toccoa at Horshoe park and got some serious windburn. I was the only one with the gonads to get out in the river while they all huddled on the bank. I also found about a miilion perfectly rip persimmons so that made up for only catching two trout.

A brisk 33 here, absolutely gorgeous weekend!

Nice. 37.1 here in Dahlonega on the other side of the chain.

Looks like some places even in central GA made it to the 30's as I see a 39 ob near Macon and just south of Columbus.

Also many places outside the mountains in the Carolinas made it to their first 30's of the season. As did Alabama also. Nice!
