Still raining and temps are crashing now, down to 53.4 and falling at more than 4 degrees per hour and that rate is increasing.

Cool...Your due south of me and from your temp you can tell the cold air is really wrapping down underneath the system as I am still at 59 and holding.

Wow, wow! That's great..kind of pathetic, but great :) In past years we wouldn't think anything of 3 inches today, and 3 more Friday...how far we've fallen to be way happy over 1/2 inch, lol.

Yeah, man, you are my torch in the rain cave, lol. If you can turn it around, anyone can.....and I don't have a set of mountains to get in the way :) Looks like that next line fattened out pretty good, so I've got my hopes up once more. Tony

:lol: Sad....but true :(:lol::hug:

Finally got my computer back after waiting for it to be fixed up. The memory went on the fritz and had no choice but to buy new RAM, plus it suffered the infamous BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) due to a critical software issue. Glad to be back on the forum once more.

Aside from that, I've been under heavy rain for a few hours since it began during the late evening. Nothing but drizzle now but managed to get 1.47" out of this. Very nice I say and the ditches are completely filled to where it looks like a mini-river.

Glad to see you have returned, been wondering where you have been. :)

My Widrecast worked!!! I overexceeded my forecast and got 1.12". :P

Wooo Hoooo! That's nice to see

mby ended up with 1.48

0.51" at my hosue in Cullowhee. A general half inch across the county with some locals close to an inch.

Temps are holding in the low - upper 50's across the county with Mt Mitchell at 45 F. Looking forward to watching that station drop over the next 12 hours.

Still looking at heading up to the Pkwy this evening or late night for my first flakes of the season!

the Euro and GFS have big differences for the next front. GFS puts the front in the east again, but ECMWF has it out west, with a cutoff. Usually thats one of its biases, but the 6zGFS trended that way a little. We are in the time frame now with such a long, zonal flow that the models could swing wildly from one run to the next, because the wavelength will snap at some point, like a rubber band but its hard to predict where. One run may have a huge trough in the west at day 7, and the next run may have a ridge there, so we're entering a volatile pattern.

Last time I checked, Mt. Leconte had a 60% chance of snow with a high of 33 on Thursday. Although, the NWS out of Morristown said Rime ice would be a bigger problem up there.

Good luck!

I had a high of 67.6 at midnight last night, temp is currently around 48 and windy. It was still 62 at 5AM this morning, very nice weather!! Still no rain gauge yet, but we did get some good rains last night, I'm going to be ordering my gauge in the next week or so! I'm really looking forward to a nice cool fall day!

Whats up americanwx and former eastern member?. How is everyone doing? Ive been lurking for awhile finally decided to join.

Its been awhile. Though I wont be posting much as I use to in Eastern.

Anyway raining again with a band coming through sitting 59 degrees here. So far .80" since last night. Would be nice to get some thunderstorms later but highly doubt it. Its just too cool and stable for anything here. Unless the sun comes out which again highly doubt it. Down east looks better.

not sure of the updated total, but it has been pouring on and off again al morning so far. now i am ready for the temp drop

I've had just under an inch here so far. Not expecting much more but what was interesting was for about 30 minutes it was pouring rain without a single radar return over me. The nearest returns were 30 miles away to the west. It was actual rain and some of the heaviest drizzle type precip I've ever seen I think..it was so heavy that it had the same appearance of moderate to heavy rain except it was drizzle and it was coming down in big sheets/waves. Pretty cool.

Front just moved through here a little bit ago and like everyone else about a 6 degree temp change.
