CandymanColumbusGA
Hmmm..... Looks like we MAY get a little bit of wind with this front I'm definitely looking forward to the upper 40s for lows Sunday morning!!! Think we'll be a tad warmer Saturday morning because of the wind, but that wind might be cutting through me Saturday afternoon at the Diabetes walk.... Solak
Severe thunderstorms that crossed the region early Thursday spawned a brief tornado that destroyed a Tyrrell County mobile home and sent a man inside to the hospital with a broken shoulder. The National Weather Service says the tornado touched down around 4:10 a.m. Thursday with winds of 105 mph, measured 10 yards wide and was on the ground for about 100 yards between Newland and Basnight roads, 2 miles south of Columbia. Other nearby mobile homes suffered minimal damage and no one else was hurt. Just over one month ago a tornado touched down along U.S. 64 east of Columbia, spawned by the first rain band from Hurricane Irene and destroyed several mobile homes Via The Outer Banks Voice on FB. dsaur
Ooowwweeee! Low 40's! I might be tempted to close some windows. Naw, pull out some blankets and leave 'em open I've been splitting wood all summer...twice warming wood. Nearly got heat stroke splitting wood when it was over 90, and will be warmed again when it makes it into the 30's and 20's. Here's hoping it is soon. And hoping that the next big fronts bring some rain. But Oct. is a super dry month for a reason....lots of dry air cold fronts. So...lets have some CAD, and drizzle at least, on the menu. valkhorn
So, who's going to West Virginia to see the snow this weekend? I thought about it, but I really don't feel like driving 7 hours for a couple of inches.
blueheronNC
Interesting clouds looking off to the west from downtown Charlotte. They almost look lenticular in nature. Gastonwxman
You can really tell that cool air mass is immediately taking effect here. It feels cooler than it did earlier and occasionally a strong breeze blows in. Fall temperatures are on the way. Btw, I've finished with 6.97" of rain for September. A nice way to end the month. Gastonwxman
Unreal. Only up to 58 so far for a high after dipping down to 46 for the low. The winds out here make it feel even more chilly despite full sun. Feels more like early December than the first day of October. At least the crisp air is quite welcoming. Already the leaves out here are falling and beginning to change colors a little more quickly but only a few trees around here are doing that. I'm gonna have to rake the yard at some point.
