HoarfrostHubb
Had? So they aren't there anymore? What happened to them, cut down? Lol. Typo. Still there. snowNH
Jesus. There were a good chunk destroyed too during the '38 hurricane. Actually as of as even like 5 years ago they were still pulling trees out of some of the lakes in VT/NH there were dumped there b/c they had no where else to put them! I think whats more incredible is how the farmers placed those stone walls by hand. Most were 4 feet high in NH and were strictly to keep the sheep in. HIPPYVALLEY
Yeah and the amount of forest that has come back in sne is incredible. I believe the 1938 hurricane took down about 5 million trees in SNE.

nutmegfriar
Very few trees back then. They had to import firewood into Boston from Canada (New Foundland, I believe). You could really rip away with a driver back then. No worries if you snap hooked one, since you still had a good look at the green.

weatherwiz
Where's that supposedly "widest" or "thickest" tree in CT. Was going to one of our baseball games this summer, think it might have been Avon or Simsbury...forget but my coach said apparently this is the thickest tree in CT and we were joking about how they know this. CoastalWx
There's an inverted trough over CT that may help focus some rain tonight. Noting that BID has an easterly wind and BDR is NW. 18z NAM is picking up on it One of the reason's why I liked CT through wrn and ctrl mass, but we'll see. CoastalWx
NAM might have the right idea. I wasn't sure, but it seems there might be two areas. Perhaps the stuff over ern areas will congeal, but it may be fighting a DS in a few hours.
