superjames1992
I went 12 kts because I thought the USL was BS because Juneau NEVER gets that high with west winds. I followed the EURO which with the enhanced resolution really picked up on the wind jet down the sound and giving Juneau a west wind rather than a strong downsloping NW wind. I think I went with 11 knots. The winds have been hurting me the most in Juneau thus far, so it is nice to see them cooperate.

This was exactly what I did. Not that is matters much, I'm just struggling to beat consensus.
Dsnowx53
Why did the day 6 precip go DOWN to .16" from .23"? I don't understand the wxchallenge site sometimes...
OKpowdah
LOL huge upset with the winds today. Wow
Thunder Road
Why did the day 6 precip go DOWN to .16" from .23"? I don't understand the wxchallenge site sometimes... Well I know PAJN was having some rain gauage issues this week (see earlier posts in this thread) but that shouldn't cause the total to go down. Glancing at the NWS 3-day history, I see 0.23" between 6z and 6z. I'll e-mail my coordinator and ask her about that.

Dsnowx53
The day 6 precip corrected back to .23". And the winds are back to 11 knots for day 7. I guess the climo report didn't go any higher with those. Also, a wunderground "special METAR/OB" had the temperature down to 10.4 degrees at 6:14am AKST, but I guess those special METARs don't count? The low was apparently still 11. Oh, and the temperature spiked up to 19 last hour. It might be warmer than a lot of us thought. I went under the MOS yesterday and put a high of 19, blah. Dsnowx53
Fortunately, the temperature dropped right after I started complaining.
Quincy
even with that wind blip, I'm still having good success. let's see how cool it gets by 6z and if the winds spike much...I think the climo report has 13MPH, so I don't think the final wind will be any higher than 12kt
L.B. LaForce
Temps are going up, and now steady at 19. Maybe it hit 20 in that time. Looks like 11 for the low is set. Can I go perfect on Day 8?
Dsnowx53
The high stayed at 19. But it's taking an uncharacteristically long time for the '0 knots' problem to be fixed for yesterday.

Dsnowx53
that happened one day during week one for Juneau too...I asked about it and got a snippy response, lol lol It's so annoying, though! I just want to know my overall ranking for Juneau already...also I had 9 knots so I've been nervously awaiting the climo report for a while. Juneau is the first city I've actually done really well in so I actually care this time around.
L.B. LaForce
Final for Day 8 should be: 19/11/11/0.00 (winds are not certain, but almost likely to be 11kts after climo) This puts me at 78th overall for the city, destroying my classmates in Synoptic..come on, pick it up! hehe
Quincy
still showing up as zero. come on!
SBUWX23
If 11 knots is the verification for wind, I will be ranked 56 for Juneau.
wxmeddler
Finished off PANJ with a +1 SD. Lucky this is my drop city and the rest of my scores are -2 SD range. Bumped up to 10th in CAT 4 in overall standings.
Dsnowx53
Climo report officially at 11 knots. I ended up 46th nationally for Juneau.
wxmeddler
Just a reminder that there is NO forecasting this week! Forecasting at Erie begins on Nov. 28th! Also FYI... Cleveland Radar (KCLE), which is the closest to Erie will be DOWN for Dual-Pol installation from November 28 to December 11th. http://www.roc.noaa..../DPSchedule.pdf
Thunder Road
Finished 277th, tied for 4th at Valpo. Surprisingly actually my best city so far.

superjames1992
What am I to do this week with no WxChallenge??? Oh, no! I am 561st overall right now (39th among Cat-4s). Juneau was my best city. Miami is my throw-away city since I essentially forgot to forecast there on the last day.

superjames1992
How do you find overall for the entire season? Go to Cumulative Scores and then National Data (or Category 4 forecasters for you and I if we want to just look at that). As an aside, how do you find out how you did at a certain city? I am curious to know how I did at Juneau compared to others.

As an aside, how do you find out how you did at a certain city? I am curious to know how I did at Juneau compared to others. Oh ok, thanks. So then as of now I'm 554 overall. That's a result of missing a day each at MIA (which ended +5.63) and RIW (+5.05) canceled out by DAY (-2.30) and AJN (-0.51). 9th at Valpo, and I'm not even counting down how many spots I am down in Category 4 forecasters. To look at just a single city, click on Results, then the city you want to see and Day 8 for the final (or Day 6 if you want to know how you were doing on Day 6, for instance). icebreaker5221
Finished 60th nationally for Juneau, which puts me 2nd amongst Miami forecasters. 62nd cumulatively, which I'm pretty happy with.
