Thunder Road
What does it mean that KRIW's observation quality is Caution? It's been that way since the beginning of last week at least, maybe a lot longer, I don't know. Does that have any baring on the contest?

icebreaker5221
Maybe there's an issue with the precip censor. I noticed a few times it was reporting rain, but no rainfall occurred. Looks like it measured precip last night but still says caution, so it's probably (thankfully) not that. Thunder Road
Given the calm conditions reported now, lack of cloud cover, dropping Td and north winds (albeit very light, and only on the NAM), I went a bit low on the low. My only worry is that I didn't go low enough. Then by afternoon, the winds curve around to the south, we're even drier than the morning and there's still no clouds and very little wind, so I see a bust on the high side being quite possible. That said, I went... 55/29/07/0.00"

It's been that way since the beginning of last week at least, maybe a lot longer, I don't know. Does that have any baring on the contest? Yeah, it's been there for very long - and on Mesowest it looks like many of the ASOS stations in Wyoming have triggered the automated QC Caution flag. It could be simply due to the varying terrain - I'm not very familiar with what kind of checks go into this systems, The automated MADIS QC check on theGladstone Weather site has everything looking OK, so I don't think it's cause for concern. L.B. LaForce
I went wayy to low on the high, but later models were trending lower, and I didn't have much time to look at them in depth. I went 51/32/10/0.
Thunder Road
It looks like the wind is what messed us up this morning. 7 kts already, which was just enough to hold the low at 32. There's still a chance at the 18z 6-hour min will be a degree lower, but they're already going up again, so it's not totally likely.

Quincy
57/30F/15/0.00 low is tricky too...dew-points are much lower than this time last night and since the USL was going with 29, I had to lean cooler. we'll see what happens!
Thunder Road
I'm hoping we don't get an intra-hour low of 29 or 28, as I went 57/30/07/0.00" today, and it already looks like I messed up the winds since they'll probably spike right before 6z. Max
62/41/12/0.00 Am a little skeptical about the low, plus clouds have increased and warmer air aloft has moved in, and also it seems the USL has been too cold lately and it being at 38F made me go warmer. When I say too cold I mean 1F to 2F too cold, but averaged out mostly 1F, so I took a risk since I need to try to get back to National Consensus since I did real poorly at Miami. Quincy
what a spread for lows tonight...unless the temperature is right in the middle, we're probably going to see a lot of wide swings...oh my...temperature just went UP 3 degrees last hour. now at 49F, dew point 31.
