Fantom X
from the NWS Statement as of 11:42 PM AKDT on September 23, 2011 ... Streak of warm minimum temperatures over at Barrow... The previous record was in 2009 of 68 days from July 1 through sept 6. Barrow still has one more record streak ongoing though. Mr. Windcredible!
Seems somewhat impressive that parts of SNE and upstate NY had their first day or two of sub-freezing low temps nearly 2 weeks before Barrow AK. from the NWS Statement as of 11:42 PM AKDT on September 23, 2011 ... tacoman25
Barrow has really cooled down over the past week. First sub-freezing high of the season yesterday, and lows in the 20s the past three mornings. Still not quite down to normal temps, but much closer. iceman56
The cam hasnt been udpated since 09/14/2011 They shut it down for the winter. Comes back online in late April. Note the angle of the image -- apparently in August the ice melted under one of the legs of the mounting stand.

The_Global_Warmer
Not Surprising considered they had SSTs between 6-12C all summer. They are now down to 0-2C. But it is not surprising they had that record since the ice has been 700 miles away for months..it's getting closer, its only something like 500 miles away now. I would expect more of these records to go the next decade.
