Thundersnow12
5 years ago today I chased my first funnel cloud on my bike up my street as one of three supercells tracked northeast across chicagoland that afternoon. Had lots of shear that day (0-6km and low-level shear) with backed sfc winds and pretty good moisture for september standards and the storms did stay discrete so im still unsure as to why they didn't produce more than one tornado total. The low-level lapse rates were not that good and instability wasn't the best but decent so im sure that had something to do with it but most ingredients were there. Chicago Storm
This will be split into two posts due the the amount of images... There's really no need to explain anything given all of the maps/radar provided... The only thing to note is the last radar image is about the time the F0 tornado touched down on the north side of Chicago, near Loyola University. It quickly moved out over the lake. Environment: 12z 500mb, 700mb, and 850mb maps: 0z 500mb, 700mb, and 850mb maps:

NIUmetGF
I was a senior at NIU at this point and I'm having trouble recalling exactly what I was doing or where I was at this day.
NIUmetGF
Now that I look into it I would have been gone from class that day to WGN-TV for an internship. I believe I recall hearing tornado sirens along I-88.

I believe I recall hearing tornado sirens along I-88. I believe someone reported something north of I-88 on kirk rd or somewhere near there (don't know what the report was) but remember hearing my dad say thats what they were saying on the radio.
