Ticking Down the Days

Not true. Dew points for most of the midday today at BDL were mid 60s... yesterday they were close to 70.

So yeah it is definitely a bit less humid today and everyone I've spoken to today enjoyed the wx immensely.

Disagree. Everyone I spoke to the last 2 days live and FB all said this wx bkows.. Even responses to you on Twitter said the same thing

Dews now are in the upper 60's to low 70's. Mine is 70... 2 other Tolland mesos are 69 and 71.. Same nastiness as yesterday. 0 difference. We're not talking about the blacktop at BDL with no vegetation

Compare the difference at HFD... for most of today (morning, midday, and afternoon) the dew points were lower than yesterday... that's a fact.

I think a lot of people enjoyed the weather today. Everyone was outside and everyone so far I've spoken to at work loved the day. Most people aren't sick like us and don't like storms, snow, extreme cold, etc.

For a weekend day in late September I'll take 80/65 with clouds and sun.

Dews are no different today vs yesterday. 70 yesterday and 70 currently. Everyone you talk to is sick of this BS..People are mad at me becuase i told them last weekend it was safe to take their a/c out

Maybe down there. In Plymouth, dps were around 70 all day yesterday and today were in the low 60's. Still a little humid, but all in all a beautiful day!!

Yeah... 1-1.5K feet should've been 78-81F then based on a 76F at 2K. That's very warm for that area.

Not sure how you can make that claim. As my station has been down since the lightningt strike on Sept 15, I can't be certain what I hit. But my truck had me at low 70's when I returned home at 3:30 yesterday, and it had me at 73 today. It's typically been +/- 1* of my Davis, so I think it's a fairly reliable read.

For comparison, the high at Conway was 73.9, the high at Chester was 74.6, Guilford VT was 76.7. Both the Conway and Guilford sites are lower than me, Chester 400' higher.

I hope I get my station back in the next week or so.

True it was moreof a late summerish day than an early fall day.....

But pretty perfect in most respects for comfort.

Low 57 High 75

Currently 65/60.

When we start to have realistic snow threats then I obviously disdain above normal wx. But for now I don't care that much.

24 September 2011

BOS +12

BDL +13

PVD +14

ORH+13

No need to list mins and maxes today, maxes were impressive as well, many low 80s around sne,

WCF -3 :P

Interesting how the lower elevations are not really much warmer than the higher spots as you'd normally expect during the spring and summer due to nearly neutral lapse rates. As the sun angle gets lower, things don't mix out as much, keeping the lapse rates more neutral as opposed to positive. Sometimes in the late fall or winter, the valleys stay cooler throughout the entire day if it doesn't mix out, leading to a negative lapse rate (inversion). This seems to occur a lot in November when we have a ridge of high pressure overhead with calm winds and strong radiation inversions. These are the rare days when Albany and Springfield can be cooler than 2K.

Well I only took the MADIS analyzed stations. I have no idea how that 74F was sited...is it calibrated correctly? Is it in shade all day? Maybe it's correct...idk. Like Mitch said though, there was overall a fairly uniform U70s from 500-2k ft.

Had friends down from NH today. One of them wanted to go check out the "cool swimming hole" up the road on the Green River. Everyone else took a pass so he and I went. Completely re-arranged from the Irene flooding, so much so we almost didn't recognize it.

Running fast and cold from this weeks rain. Looked a wee bit dangerous but we got in what may have been the last swim of the summer. The bottom is incredible silty smooth now so the flooding at least did something positive.

Surreal to see crushed kayaks, parts of houses, furniture etc along the banks. Oh' and the refrigerator under water is a new hazard that will need to be dealt with next year...

Good to get in the water once more, a farewell to summer hopefully.

Well in humid conditions the lapse rates are maybe 4F/1000ft if you're lucky, so being in New England where there's not a whole lot of elevation overall, temperatures in this part of the country are fairly uniform as you see from the RWRs.

There is nothing wrong with the siting of Chester Hill, MPM's (when it is not ravaged by lightning) or mine. I find it amazing that anyone can call this weather uncomfortable. Mild and unremarkable.

It's also a matter of where the sun popped earlier. We were overcast here until about 1 but when the sun made an appearance it went from 71 to 78 imby.

Currently 67/66. Still a little dank out but comfy for just chillin' on the couch with the bambino.

I can't wait for the next cool shot and firing up the stove for the season's first fire.
