Logan11
I re-checked and yesterday we did hit 81 ....so it was plenty warm here, but thankfully that exited overnight. Wow, 81 here with td of 66. Torchtastic day.
CoastalWx
It's so obvious just about all of rural CT goes under 44. Heck even BDL probably goes under 44 easily. Joe may not down in tropical sw CT. It's possible his coolest day might be Friday am under heavy heavy CAA.

There is going to be one hell of a temp gradient between you and I, tomorrow. Hell even between Pete and I. You might be falling to near 50 while I'm near 80(especially if the clouds hold off). Then we all fall tomorrow night.
weatherwiz
It will be interesting to see whether or not we can spark off some storms later on this afternoon right along or just ahead of the cold front. Instability right now fairly decent, especially for this time of year but shear is lacking a bit...strongest shear is right along/just behind the cold front. Anyways though about 1000-2000 J/KG of SBcape across the region with MLcape between 500-1000 J/KG with LI values around -2C to -3C. Some helicity present as well. Have to watch out though for dewpoints mixing down as the afternoon goes on as dry air from the west advects into the region in the mid levels potentially mixing down to the surface. Really haven't looked at the models at all for today so not sure how they were handling the intrusion of the dry air but we'll see what happens over the next few hours. My guess would be that the dry air has definitely worked in aloft in the mid levels but it could be taking just a bit longer to mix it down towards the surface across most places but this could change very quickly. nzucker
partly sunny 73 Through 9/13 BDR +3 BDL +2.9 ORH +1.6 BOS +0.7 One more enormous + departure day today, which will bring these numbers to bonafide torch criteria, then the cold snap and another warm up next week which ens means support. Crisp air is going to feel so great friday and saturday!! September is going to end up between 2-3F above average for much of New England. We only recorded a low of 62F last night, another >+10F departure. We'll see some modest negative departures with the cold shot bringing 0C 850s into New Hampshire, but the models look very warm in the longer-range with a +EPO/+NAO as a vortex settles into both the Gulf of Alaska and Greenland. Euro has 14C 850s and 588dm heights coming back into New England later in the month.

This cold shot, while fairly impressive is not a long-lasting fixture. Just look how quick temperatures are going to rebound across other parts of the country, granted these areas are lower in latitude but still. Nothing really suggestive of prolonged cold shots or a prolonged period of below-average temperatures. If anything I think we'll see temps back to above-average with brief but rather potent cold shots with frontal passages.
MaineJayhawk
This is an addendum to that story Pete had about the murders in his 'hood. ------------------------------------------------------- AUGUSTA, Maine -- One of three men charged in connection with the killings of three men in western Massachusetts served time in Maine after an assault in which he drank the victim's blood. Caius Domitius Veiovis served almost 7 1/2 years at the Maine State Prison in Warren for charges including elevated aggravated assault after he and his 16-year-old girlfriend cut a teenager's back with a razor and drank her blood while they kissed. The 1999 injury required more than 30 stitches. Jody Breton, associate commissioner for the Maine Department of Corrections, says Veiovis was known as Roy Gutfinski at the time and that he changed his name in July of 2008. She said he was released from prison in April of 2010. He's now one of three men charged in connection with the deaths of three men in the town of Pittsfield, Mass. In his 1999 mugshot, he had horns implanted and 666 tattooed on his forehead. In his current mugshot, both remain but he has more tattoos on his face. CoastalWx
I don't expect much warmer daily temps to come into the picture until mid week or so next week. While temps aloft warm up, we have a big bubble of high pressure overhead. So that means we'll have milder days, but cool nights. The urban centers will remain warm and will probably be the source of the torch supporters pushing out the daily departures, but it won't tell the whole story. Later next week and next weekend does look warmer and more humid again before perhaps a cooler and/or wetter pattern comes in near the end of the month.
