Perfect--now I just need to find the kit. :)

Short term, I just made the 5 mile trip down to Home Depot in Greenfield. Never fails to amaze me the difference in temp as you go from the hills down there. Truck thermometer dropped 7* between there and home (70 to 63).

Now, just put out the new Homedepot unit. Let the temp reporting begin (well, after it gets down to the right temp).

Looks like a good burst of rain pushing into the Berks.

It helps that there is a front in there some where. This front is moving slower than maple syrup in February off my evaporator before I fire it up! lol Looks like it's through Westfield. The lines looks just east of there from west of BDL to just west of EEN.

Looks to me like a 1 night shot at some frost, Friday late night ‘till dawn on Saturday, for typically colder locales. 34-39F so pretty good crystallization especially on metallic and starlit exposed surfaces, and where decoupling is good.

Saturday night looks like crisp early, but then wind in the boundary layer comes around to the SW early enough in the diurnal cycle to perhaps promote steady and/or slowly rising temperatures for elevations. Might decouple in the valleys a bit, but on the still south side of the equinox supplying heat through radiative process fighting, it may actually level off early …low 40s for most save some places out in CT R value N.

First shot at autumnal like air mass! Lots of freeze alerts in the upper MW last night, but this air is modifying as it heads ESE – abruptly colder but not as if it came down on a NW trajectory out of Ontario.

I debated covering my garden for Friday night but have decided to let nature run its course. Whether I do or don’t I’m only getting a nother week and half …2 maybe, then everything really does shut down. Although, one year my bro in law was getting tomatoes until Thanks Giving …2006 I think it was, because it was ludicrously warm until Jan 1 of 2007 back then. Don’t perceive that as being the case this year; in fact, I think winter comes in early this time. It’s sad though, because the warmth of the last 3 days have my cukes really going nuts… Lots of new deep green leaves and yellow flowers – damn. Damn. I seem to recall last year I put down the autumn fertilization in mid October and tilled it over for the year anyway. Most of the growing was over by Sept 25th anyway.

The temp difference has nothing to do with the front though. That's standard fare.

Just had a shower come through now.

I know...I have the same experience driving home every day going from the heat island in the valley up an over a 1,000' hill and then back down again into my town. I was just saying that the front help make the temperature difference even a little more today. I'm sure other days it can be even more drastic like when there is snow on the ground.

We're almost there...winter is slowly but surely coming home!
