tacoman25
Just under 6" on the ground as I head out the door to work. Snowing the hardest I've seen it so far.
Chinook
I think we have 7" of snow. I was more concerned about assessing the damage to my tree. We had more than one 6" diameter branch down. I think some of these branches bounced off the roof and landed on the ground.
boulderrr
Trees and branches down all over the place in Boulder. The power is out up at my place in Boulder Canyon and in several places throughout town. From Xcel Energy: The snowstorm that moved through Colorado Oct. 25 has knocked out power to more than 60,000 customers in metro Denver, Greeley, Ft. Collins and Boulder. We currently have 80 line crews, including 12 from Texas, working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. There's also another 33 crews clearing trees and branches away from our electric lines. Most of the outages are caused by tree limbs on our lines. We’ve had only one report of a broken utility pole so far. We’ll add more crews as they’re available throughout the day. Please remember to not go near or touch any downed or sagging power lines. Large branch down in town From my place in Boulder Canyon

Vandy
Yeah I'd say we have about 6-7" here in South Boulder. Not the foot that was expected but still a much better start than last winter.

I get the feeling there will be a lot of ice to contend with tomorrow morning with the clearing skies, lack of wind, and low temperature expected to drop below 15oF tonight. tacoman25
After slowing down to flurries for about an hour, snow has really picked up again here in north Denver.

tacoman25
The area webcams are showing wet roads at this time. Any road issues earlier ? Neigborhood roads were snowcovered where I live, but main roads were fine. Further north where the snow was heavier overnight, I hear the roads were a lot worse. Nomad
The area webcams are showing wet roads at this time. Any road issues earlier ? I didn't have any in south Denver. Some slush on side roads and bridges of main roads, but not enough to even slow people down too much

boulderrr
The area webcams are showing wet roads at this time. Any road issues earlier ? 119 up Boulder Canyon was snow covered this morning. I also heard there were issues with rock slides further up. Had to slam on my brakes to miss a deer yesterday on my way down to work. Glad that didn't happen today! baroclinic_instability
Here is the latest map from 10 AM. Love seeing the huge differences owing both to terrain and the very mesoscale nature of the banding/forcing which was evident with the setup. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bou/precip/precip_map.php
tacoman25
28 and mostly cloudy now here. Once it clears up this evening, temps should really fall off...the record tomorrow for DEN is a very weak 21 from 1954, and they should shatter that. Wouldn't be surprised to see them get near 10. No surprise to see the Euro and GFS so far apart at this stage. That being said, the developing pattern does look pretty similar to the pattern leading up to this storm. RIC Airport
Didn't quite get as much as I thought, but not bad I guess for October. Plus, it's the 2nd event of the year. Keep it up!

But hey, you never know! We'll see what 00Z brings.
RIC Airport
One thing I wanted to add was that I got no more than a 5 inch snow depth, particuarly on cold surfaces and on my back deck. More has fallen than what I see and I don't have a snowboard or anything to measure properly. But, a lot of the snow melted as it landed, melting from below (warm ground) and compacted with new snow falling on top of it. Amazing how well the roads did through the storm given the near 80 degree temps in the days leading up to this event. I've lived here off and on for the last two years......too bad I didn't have a camera driving home from work yesterday b/c this was the first time I've seen trees with an abundance of foliage at the same time as snow on the ground. It makes the scenery THAT much better!

I went looking for the post I made, but it took awhile before I remembered it was on Eastern.....

You are definitely correct that there was a lot less foliage then. Fall 2009 had been a lot colder up to that point than this fall has been. DEN had a low of 14, obviously setting a new record. Fort Collins also set a new record low with 12. The coldest location around the metro area was Erie with a low of 7. At my house, bottomed out at 11. Also, DEN recorded 8.5" from this last storm. Surprised they got that much, they don't usually beat me, but I think they scored on some bands that formed further east yesterday.

I think we had more winds by that point that year as well. Here's a pic I took on CU's campus. My link

boulderrr
We had a few branches down in my neighborhood, but nothing like that. Branches were down all over the place in Boulder. Too many trees that don't belong... drooping power lines everywhere you look. Saw numerous vehicles with large branches on top of them. 30th between Colorado and Arapahoe looked like a tree war zone yesterday.
