Yeah, and I didn't know anything about the warning. I'm in a building with no windows except at the front and we're supposed to get a phone elert with these things, but we got nothing.

When the NWS puts out a tornado warning for RTP, they make a big announcement over the PA here where I work and make us go to interior rooms. I spent a half-hour chilling in somebody's office, peeking out into the hall and checking the end window for cows and Tin Men flying by. It was a bit breezy, I don't even think we got any rain. Now my wife, at our house on the SW side of Durham, had the basement ready to dive into, apparently it got a little more scary out that way.

Looks like another line headed our way in an hour or two.

Indeed you did. 10.35 now and still coming down hard. I think we are going to make a run for 12 inches before daybreak. We've shattered our 24 hr rainfall record already. That was only 7.61 inches back in 1886.

Radar estimate at my house in Knoxville put me at 6.25" or so. TYS had about 6 inches total. It was one of the rainiest days we've ever had, but not the rainiest. You guys pretty much shattered your record. I spent the day playing with legos and watching the rain, so it was enjoyable. Hey, we've all got to play with toys sometime!

I will say this though, the lawn looks so much greener already and I'm glad I dead headed my roses last weekend because they are going to drink up this water and grow like mad.

It's a little frustrating watching these bands line up 15 miles W and 30 miles E of here and staying in the dry slot. I guess the upside of it is not having to deal with anything damaging IMBY. Can hear thunder from the band off to the West right now that will pass between Raleigh and the radar site.

That's how I felt yesterday.

I live next to the Alamance county line and that was a strong cell that moved threw. Not so much Lighting where I was at, but I am sure 5-8 miles to my east it was pretty instense. Caswell county is still under a Tornado Warning (No confirmed sighting yet). local TV station still showing broad rotation with the cell moving torwards Yancyville

I chased in Alamance this morning and then caught the meso of the Durham County cell just afternoon (right after the tor warning was lifted). It still had some rotation at that point. The first three are Alamance County and the others are SW Durham County.

Eyewall, out of curiosity, where were you in SW Durham County when you got those pics? That's fairly close (as in a few miles) to MBY, as we're in Tuscaloosa-Lakewood, a couple miles southwest of downtown just off US 15/501. If you see the Lakewood weather station on Weather Underground, we're less than a half-mile from that.
