Haven't had much time of late but it was a total screwjob here. Only a few hundredths here. Truly remarkable you could have a tropical storm make landfall in La, and take a track like this one and end up with virtually nothing. This one would have to become the 1 and 100 storm that becomes extratropical at the point it did and at this time of year too boot, which of course means most of the rain is to the north and nw of the center. To say it was sickening is an understatement...especially after models were painting a few inches (until a few runs before hand where the nam/gfs correctly showed the screwjob coming for areas south of 85) and hpc even more.

The only positive was seeing a supercell yesterday move nearby which was clearly rotating. It did have a tornado warning with it and radar even suggested some hail which was truly remarkable I thought given the airmass. There was no damage from it that I know of and all I got from it was some 15mph breezes. Not even a drop (missed me by, I don't know, a mile?)

Just adding salt to the wound...mom's been in the hospital for a week with some strange illness they can't seem to figure out and I broke a toe yesterday too (stumped it while on the phone and being in a rush). Sigh. :axe:

Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she is out and better quick!

And for when you are frazzled and hurried..steel toed boots :)

Yep, when I saw the writing on the wall for me, rain wise, I knew the one getting royally Lookouted would be Chris. Sorry, but it makes me feel just a bit better while getting the shaft, knowing that you are always getting it just a bit worse, lol. Again, sorry, but there it is :) Hang in there, our day will come...maybe even Sunday. And you have to admit the cooling is wonderful!!! I doubt we see 90 again, you and me ..... until next week.T

I'll go in the hallway if we get a warning this way. And my coworkers do always ask me about the weather.

Some of us hope you get to see active weather today. Please take pics from the hallway.

Tornado warning for Franklin County now. Radar showing possible tornado near Louisburg. This is getting too close to home now.

It's a good thing these storms are moving away from you... Maybe its time to go to the hallway.

61 degrees in the wake of Lee. High only going up to 67 today!! The lowest maximum temp in a long time around here. It was in the low 70's around midnight last night but for a day time maximum this will be the lowest since last spring..... Going down to the 50's tonight! The back of summer has been broken!

Apparently we have a tornado watch here... things are breezy but otherwise pretty quiet right now, though we'll see what happens later today. I'll try to get pictures. And on an unrelated note, the Blue Angels stopped in overnight; just watched them depart a little while ago.

I hope you get power back soon. EPB said just a few thousand out so hopefully a quick restore job. You probably know this, but sharing with the rest of the forum, Chattanooga set the all-time 24-hour rainfall record. With that much rain softening the soil, 45 mph is plenty to uproot and down trees. I saw some infamous green glows last night. Was that your transformer?

CHA official approaching 10 inches (9.97") for system total. The 24-hour was 9.41 as of 10 pm Monday, smashing 7.61 from Mar 29-30, 1886 (from NOAA NWS). Wow!

We busted the other way here. My storm total is 11.33 inches and it is still raining. The winds gusted to 45 mph last night. The power is still out. Most schools are closed.

PS.. Good luck and be safe to y'all on the tornado side of things.

Yeah, and I didn't know anything about the warning. I'm in a building with no windows except at the front and we're supposed to get a phone elert with these things, but we got nothing.

NOAA Weather Radio is the way to go. Other, private services can be great supplements, but there is no substitute for NWR.
