Bostonseminole
there will be some cold seminoles on campus next week, my old stomping grounds. KTAE, Long term...(saturday through wednesday). In what has already been a very cold start to the month of December...the extended portion of the forecast unfortunately looks to be more of the same. After a brief warmup on Friday and Saturday (and this warmup will likely only take US to back to near climatological temperatures for this time of year)...yet another strong cold front appears poised to charge through the region on Saturday night and Sunday morning...preceded by a line of showers and thunderstorms. At this time...no strong to severe thunderstorms are expected due to the lack of low level instability and limited return flow moisture...but will need to an eye on this system due to the strong dynamics it will likely possess. Once this cold front passes to the south of the region on Sunday...it is now appearing more and more likely that the coldest air of the season will rush into the County Warning Area for the beginning of next week...as an extremely cold air mass of Canadian high pressure builds in to our north. Although it is still several days away... high temperatures on Monday may not climb any higher than the upper 30s to lower 40s...which will then set the stage for a long duration hard freeze event for Monday night and Tuesday morning...with lows in the middle to upper teens very possible away from the coast. All agricultural interests are urged to keep abreast of the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service on this next cold outbreak.

Ed Lizard
Raw 12Z GFS 2 meter temp for Bartow, near Sebring, well into Florida, Tuesday morning, -2.4ºC (28º F). I don't think that is cold enough to seriously damage citrus trees, but I think the fruit would be in danger.

Seminole
Brrrrrr! EXPECT A VERY COLD AND WINDY START TO THE PERIOD. DEPENDING ON HOW FAST THE FRONTAL SYSTEM CLEARS OFF TO THE EAST ON MONDAY AND A HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM DROPPING OUT OF CANADA MOVES INTO THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...SURFACE WINDS ON MONDAY COULD STILL BE IN THE 15 TO 20 MPH RANGE WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY A WIND CHILL ADVISORY (<15 DEG F) MONDAY MORNING. IN A WORD...BLUSTERY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL STRUGGLE TO ONLY MAKE IT INTO THE LOW TO MID 40S. WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE AREA LIKELY TO REMAIN JUST OFF TO THE NORTHWEST...ENOUGH OF A LIGHT BREEZE WILL OCCUR OVERNIGHT TO PREVENT TEMPERATURES FROM BOTTOMING OUT IN THE TEENS. NEVERTHELESS...EVEN WITH LIGHT WINDS...THIS INCOMING AIRMASS IS AS COLD AS THE RECENT ARCTIC OUTBREAK WE EXPERIENCED...SO EXPECT A HARD FREEZE MONDAY NIGHT WITH MANY LOCATIONS APPROACHING THE LOW 20S. IF THERE`S STILL ANY WIND AT ALL...WIND CHILL ADVISORIES MAY ALSO BE NEEDED.

Ed Lizard
NWS MLB AFD snip... MON NIGHT...COLDEST TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA MONDAYNIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. STRONG CAA WILL CONTINUE INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AND LATEST MOS GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO SUPPORT MINIMUM TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID 20S OVER MUCH OF THE AREA. HOWEVER EVEN COLDER TEMPS IN THE LOW 20S LOOK TO OCCUR NW OF THE I-4 CORRIDOR AND OVER OKEECHOBEE COUNTY WHERE WINDS LOOK TO BE LIGHTER ALLOWING FOR MORE RADIATIONAL COOLING. TOWARD THE ST. LUCIE AND MARTIN COUNTY COAST MIN TEMPS WILL RANGE FROM UPPER 20S TO NEAR 30. HOWEVER FARTHER INLAND HARD FREEZE CONDS MAY BE POSSIBLE SO HAVE THEREFORE REPLACED THE FREEZE WATCH WITH A HARD FREEZE WATCH IN THESE COUNTIES. ELSEWHERE THE HARD FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT AND WILL LIKELY BE UPGRADED TO A WARNING BY EARLY MONDAY MORNING. TUES/TUES NIGHT...TEMPS WILL RISE ABOVE FREEZING WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS AFTER SUNRISE BUT WILL REMAIN WELL BELOW NORMAL INTO THE AFTERNOON WITH HIGHS ONLY ABLE TO REACH INTO THE 50S ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA. NW WINDS WILL NOT BE AS STRONG ACROSS THE AREA AS ON MONDAY BUT WILL STILL RANGE UP TO AROUND 10 TO 15 MPH. WITH LIGHTER WINDS TUES NIGHT AND CLEAR SKIES EXPECTED...ANOTHER NIGHT OF FREEZING TEMPS IS LIKELY ACROSS THE AREA WITH MIN TEMPS OVER SOME INTERIOR AREAS POTENTIALLY REACHING THE MID 20S ONCE AGAIN. HOWEVER TEMPS OVER MOST OF THE AREA LOOK TO ONLY FALL AS FAR AS THE UPPER 20S TO LOW 30S. WILL HOLD OFF ON A FREEZE WATCH FOR NOW...BUT WILL LIKELY NEED ONE OVER MOST IF NOT ALL OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.
